Black Cat Annual throws Felicia Hardy into a world different than her usual stomping ground but doesn't lose a bit of the series trademark humor, fun, and emotional weight. Truly fun and colorful and engaging artwork that continues the book's great trend to play with panel & page layouts fill every single page. It's a great intro sort of issue to Felicia and the book's style for new readers ahead of the upcoming Infinity Stones centric story arc. Read Full Review

Whilst, this may not seem like much of a tie-in to the overall Infinite Destinies story, I cannot pass up the chance for another Black Cat issue. Cynics may say that the book is vacuous, empty and style over substance. I say this book is full of fun dialogue, is pacy, has attractive characters and most importantly, is great fun! As with almost all of MacKay's scripts, this was certainly enjoyable and had it taken more time with its new friends and less time montage-ing, it could have been a bit better. The sheer entertainment value of Cat and Fox going back and forth, however, is worth having. Read Full Review

Black Cat Annual #1 is a unique look at Black Cat out of her element in South Korea, but soon you find she's never out of her element thanks to smarts and careful planning. You could certainly do worse than buying or reading Black Cat Annual #1. It just didnt feel like that much of a throwaway story and Im also glad to see a character like Black Cat getting the much-needed push. I think those that read this issue have probably never heard of the added characters in this issue but thats okay, you have to start somewhere. This issue was definitely worth a read. While making mention of the hero's recent adventures, Black Cat Annual #1 doesn't require the reader to know too much about her ongoing story. Instead, it's just a fun one-off adventure with an unrelated Nick Fury ongoing back-up story thrown in to try and help justify the higher cover price. Read Full Review

Taking it all together, Black Cat Annual #1s ability to satisfy readers feels like it will be largely dependent on what the reader is looking for. If they come seeking a fun adventure featuring the charming cat burglar whose name is on the cover, I think there is little chance of disappointment. The White Fox dragoons Felicia into running a one-shot spy caper during a layover in Korea. It's a nice little diversion with a lot of murdery action. This is definitely good, but also definitely non-essential; it doesn't seem to have any bearing on either the Black Cat's ongoing story or the Infinite Destinies event. But it's a fun little bonus for stans of MacKay's Black Cat, of whom I am one.

It was fun, perhaps the weakest number of the installment.

A bit of a throwaway issue, but it was entertaining enough and the artwork was quite good.

I like the witty Banter from Black Cat, nice to see the Tiger Division up close too. But fanservice aside, I really have to ask why. I know Black Cat was working on a heist for the Infinity Stones but does that mean that the annual was changed because of it? This has nothing to do with the Infinity People. Maybe the villain was the Mind or Soul Stone user, but there was nothing to say he was.

Fortunately, the Fury story has more room in this development. The surprise guest kept me thinking that his ability to perceive reality might be tied to that.

Weak story with bad art.

Bland fights that don't have an impact, bland art, bland dialogue and characters, and boring plot. At least the back up issue was interesting
