Teaming up Nick Fury and Nick Fury Jr is currently a sort of tricky thing to do. David Walker has no problem setting it all up and making it happen in a brilliant fashion. Seeing the various characters in their roles and having the two Nick's team up is a blast. Lee Ferguson's art and Jason Keith's colors make the great story and action fun and exciting. There are a couple elements that could cause the story to feel dated in a little while. Being a one-shot also means the story has to pretty much be resolved by the end and makes it feel a little constrained. Walker does nicely balance the comic book action with some serious elements from society. If you want some great Nick Fury and Nick Fury Jr action, don't miss out on this. The 50 Years of S.H.I.E.L.D. books are looking really good so far. I do wish that this issue had more social commentary, but Walker still manages to give this issue a very clear purpose. We can really see a lot of connection between father and son, and it sure does make for a really good book. Read Full Review
Still, I'm happy just for the chance to see the original model back in action. Nothing against the new version - I like him in the Marvel movies a lot - but for this old fan, there's only one Nick Fury - Juniors need not apply. Read Full Review
There's a lot of untapped potential when it comes to exploring the relationship between the aging Nick Fury and his up-and-coming S.H.I.E.L.D. agent son. This issue taps into that potential, but it doesn't handle the racial elements of the conflict with much depth or nuance. Read Full Review

Comics are always a balancing act, and it's never easy to pack together action and an emotional throughline within the confines of 20 pages. However, the bigger your premise, the easier it gets to take a shallow approach " and unfortunately, that's exactly what happens with David Walker's Fury #1. There is a story with some deep, deep potential here, whether it's about a son learning what his father was really like back in the day (and maybe even teaching him a lesson along the way), or showing that racism in America has had so many important figures and events, any of which could have had lasting effects on our history. Instead, both topics feel short-changed in one capacity or another, making this comic a well-intentioned but groanworthy footnote in the histories of two of Marvel's greatest spies. Read Full Review

I really like this issue. It had the present mixing with the past, dad mixing with son and the hatemonger!!!! LOL I wish this was a longer story though it had a lot of potential!
I liked this a lot, but it felt a little rushed. Would have made a better 3 issue mini series I think.
