Vader is a force to be reckoned with in this awesome finale to this series. He only speaks thirteen words in the entire issue, but the characters " and the reader " never forget the power that he wields and it's shown several times. The visuals are excellent, with me wanting to see more from Bachs in the future. Read Full Review
The build up to the grand lesson, the hidden anecdote of the story, is well crafted and well thought out. It's not entirely new or surprisingly, but it is comfortable. It still elicits a smirk when the title of the issue clicks into place, and while we don't get anything new " the ride is fun. The Age of Rebellion stories have the difficult task of providing more stories for familiar character, but Pak continues to try and find an interesting perspective to mull around it and provide with a short, neat little tale that, alongside Bachs' artwork, still gives us a worth while read. As a closing installment to the Age of Rebellion and the recent spatesof Vader books this is a fitting issue. It stands alone, but remindsus of the tenacity, ruthlessness, strength and terror that are combined in this villain. Another fine issue, and adds to Pak's growing body of fine work for the Star Wars Marvel line. Read Full Review
Honestly, this is a case of I like the story, I've seen some aspect of this story before, and I'll likely forget this story. It's well done, scripted just right and illustrated with some great designs and a good flow to it, but it's not a memorable piece in the end. Pak captures Vader well with the dynamic he has with the Emperor and we see, once again, how Vader is used as an effective tool to remove the problematic parts of the Imperial military machine. If one hasn't read a lot of Vader stories I imagine it'll go over better and make more of an impact but for me it was just another familiar piece when I was hoping for something a little more unique. Fans of Vader are sure to get a kick out of the book, as it even offers a hint of his dark humor without having to make him crack jokes. Read Full Review
An overall underwhelming attempt to understand one of the most iconic figures in pop culture history. Read Full Review
Mildly fun, hardly entertaining, dry Vader action. Greg Pak's stuff is starting to feel enslaved by the Disney machine. Read Full Review
Don't get too power drunk when Darth Vader is around. That's all I'll say.
Vader is my favorite Star Wars character so I hate to criticize but the whole testing of Vader was done thoroughly in the Darth Vader comic series. Although it was a different kind of test and Vader is as cool as always so as a Vader fan, I like it.
Bland and forgettable. It fails to elicit any real response from me, good or bad.
