Klein delivers some awesome visual moments throughout the issue. The scenes are dynamic and exciting and the style perfectly captures the tone and drama of the story. Read Full Review
They're all solid story beats but sprung on readers without any substance or development. Readers, Kleins artwork is powerful and the concepts from Cates are pure gold. But we just need more development and foreshadowing to make the pieces work. Read Full Review
This issue might really be the turning of a corner for Thor. Read Full Review
So Donny Cates just retconned Stupid Aaron Retcon of Phoenix being Thor's Mother. It's good.
I wasn't really interested in picking up but when I heard about retcon, I picked up. I loved it.
I agree, good arc. Klein’s art excels at the brutal.
Yeah, this was a powerful issue. I have criticized a lot of the last few issues but when Cates writes a good one, he writes a good one. The art was also stelar. Very good issue, let's hope this book gets back on track.
This is a great example of how to do a penultimate issue that generates excitement for the next part. Thor's allies coming together to help fight the God of Hammers was cool, and I particularly enjoyed Beta Ray Bill's speech. I always love to see Bill getting some love. While the God of Hammers showed their power in Issue 21, this time we see just how powerful Thor really is with the formation of that energy tornado. If he wasn't powerful enough, he now bears the Odin-Force. Odin's dialogue with Thor in his final moments was very nicely done after how the two of them have been with each other throughout the course of this series, and his sacrifice sets the stage for one hell of a fight in Issue 23.
2 issues ago, I was really worried about where this could go and boy was I wrong. This has been great. Now we just need to stick the landing!
Another great issue
It was pretty solid. Just whacky enough but, fun and a little serious when it needed to be.
pretty fun comic for sure. great art as well
It's strong at the beginning and strong at the end, but in between is a lot of rough road. I've spoken before about this title's "epicness gap" -- it's rarely as epic as its creators want it to be. Here it gets more problematic: It *needs* to be more epic to sell plot developments like this.
Specifically: After Bill's incredible rally at the beginning, I found it disappointing that the armies of Asgard and Midgard had nothing to do. Having them standing on the outside of the action (literally) cheapened what was going on inside for me.
I'm also coming around to the opinion that this arc's lightning characters are getting shortchanged visually.
Enjoying witnessing Thor reach his true potential.
