I don’t understand what is going on with the X-Men anymore. It’s all a convoluted mess.

This is an essential reading book. I feel for the people trying to make sense of the other books without this convoluted multifaceted story. Gillen does OK and Maresca has some nice work mixed in with some unfinished stuff but it's solid. I've just almost checked out of Krakoa and I'm just waiting for the end.

This is a big issue with a lot happening and developing story beats that will affect these characters going forward. And its all incredibly well done.

DWJ is very good at what he does. We all know that by now.

But man Jorge Corona is killing it. I couldn't have asked for another artist to take over the reigns and I csn see exactly why he was picked. He has the same sense if living vibe in his pages that Dan does.... he csn do epic action, intense burning rage, or even somber, dark sadness. And he can do it all with a cast made up of variously sized boxes.

A... logical decision... indeed. more

This is a masterclass in pacing. I understand why Johnson said he struggled writing this issue; there’s a lot of plot to advance and a lot of emotional beats to cover, all of which could have been painfully tedious if handled by a less talented writer. 8 issues in and I’m still in awe of this series.

One of the few big two books I'm willing to pay $5 for. Aside from Ultimate Spider-Man, this is the best series Marvel is putting out and I'm afraid it won't get the recognition it deserves because everyone is buying shit like Amazing Spider-Man and X-Men instead.

This was really creative in pretty much every aspect.

The premise itself is an interesting twist on an old formula, and the presentation makes it where you're seeing something that would normally be reserved for a live action/animation hybrid but instead its just Dave Wachter doing a very cool blend of different art styles, and also delivering some gorgeous colors here.

The book takes a surprisingly serious approach to its inherently wacky premise, but there's an undercurrent of good humor to the everything. It manages to feel grounded but also fantastical given what happens in the issue.

I've been looking forward to this one for a while and it didn't disappoint. This is a comic worth picking up. more

This series hasn’t missed a beat. I was disappointed to learn that Daniel Warren Johnson was no longer drawing the series anymore, but Jorge Corona’s style is nearly identical to my eyes.

The story is really good, but I just wished the art was better. If the art was by Nic Klein, then this would be a lot higher.

A good ending for the creepy Frozen Charlotte arc. A pity about the art, but the story is still good.

Reviews of this book are getting ridiculous

This was a confusing hodgepodge that was the latest disappointment in the Fall of X. Gerry Duggan's script throws various plot elements at the wall, hoping some will stick, but ultimately leaving us with a disjointed mess. The issue lacks focus, bouncing from scene to scene without a clear narrative flow or explanation. Characters randomly show up from out of nowhere when they have either been MIA completely or are part of other ongoing stories.

One glaring weakness is Duggan's portrayal of the female X-Men. Gone are individual, complex personalities. Instead, they're reduced to one-note stereotypes, trading snarky quips with little to distinguish them from each other. Its as though he's writing these characters for meme-potential and its infuriating. This shallow depiction is a disservice to the rich history of female mutants, especially for an issue released so close to International Women's Day.

Perhaps the most frustrating aspect is the X-Men's casual approach to violence. Duggan portrays them resorting to a "kill-first, ask-questions-later" mentality, a stark contrast to the core principles of mutants, even prior to Krakoa's laws. The most egregious panel in the issue sees Magik "relaxing" in room of blood-stained walls left in her trail. This willingness to take lives, even in the face of extreme situations, feels like a betrayal of everything the X-Men have stood for for decades.

Phil Noto's art, while generally stylish, doesn't fare much better. The action sequences lack the dynamism needed to convey the power and energy of mutant combat. The panels often feel static, failing to capture the urgency of the situations at hand.

X-Men #32 is a disappointing issue through & through. I'm not expecting much from this series before Krakoa ends, but I'd at least like to enjoy reading an X-Men comic until then. more
