Written and drawn by alt-pop phenomenon Lights, Skin & Earth ties directly into her next full length album, released in Fall 2017 on Warner Bros Records.

Skin and Earth issue 1 is a brilliant read and great introduction to the world Lights is creating. The art complements the writing and has potential to get better in future issues. How this connects with the Album will be interesting to see and I can't wait to see this world unfold. Read Full Review

Word Of The Nerd - Megan Rae Jul 12, 2017

Overall, this series is an interesting modern idea. The layered concepts of comics and music come together to reveal a story steeped in depth and beauty. I did not have much knowledge of Lights' musical career going into this, and I would read the comic apart fro its inclusion in this project; it stands well on its own. This is an excellent first Issue that introduces the characters and the world, and sets the series up for success. I look forward to the development of religious cult themes, the downfall of humanity, and the hope (or lack thereof) that binds us all together. Read Full Review

I found Skin & Earth #1 to be an interesting read. It's certainly outside of my comfort zone but still enjoyable. I'd love to see more women in comics and more stories that stray from the norm, and mixing in a tie-in album is a very interesting idea. For a first issue it's a good start and keeps me interested in what will happen next time. I want to learn more about En and the world around her and see if there really is any hope to be found. It's a basic concept that everyone can relate to, no matter where we live or our situations, we all want some hope and better days. Read Full Review

The Fandom Post - Chris Beveridge Jul 12, 2017

It's a book that definitely warrants a couple of read throughs in order to get into the rhythm of what they want to do but I kept feeling like, being someone who is very into world building, needed a bit more exposition on the why and how of this setting alongside the character introductions. SnapPow.com - John McCubbin Jul 11, 2017

Skin & Earth #1 is a pretty underwhelming opening issue, as despite having an interesting concept, the story as a whole is rather dull. The creator also makes it hard to like the main character, as despite not quite being dislikeable, Enaia Jin does lack any real personality. Read Full Review
