The way Adlard and Kirkman reveal the head and then directly below it, show a conversation between people back at Rick's camp asking where “so and so” is was one of the most brilliant moments I've yet to read in The Walking Dead. As we go down the line of severed heads, we know we're building towards something and by the final two we the readers are fucking put through the ringer. Issue 144 gave me that same uneasy feeling that I had while reading the epic 100th chapter And we all remember how that went. Read Full Review

    ComicList - Brandon Borzelli Jul 11, 2015

"The Walking Dead" works because the comic book builds over time to shocking issues like this one. This book is a read that builds up the tension within this issue to get to the huge reveal at the comic's end. The artwork excels at providing the visual shock for the end, but also provides a fantastic spread of the zombie super-herd in the beginning. This is a fun read. It's a game-changer and I highly recommend picking it up. Read Full Review

Kirkman showed his reading audience that they should start paying attention to every panel instead of just the main ones. The clues were there but I sure as heck didn't see it until both Kirkman and Rick Grimes spelled it out for me like killers revealing a motive. It was perfect and even in the Letter Hacks in the back of the issue, he quotes the art staffs surprise as they read the script for the issue. That's how you know it's good, when even the people who've been working on the comic since day one are taken aback by the reveal. Absolutely awesome. Read Full Review

The writing helps me a bit, but I'm still not over with the sudden gruesome deaths. I definitely need next issue to help me get over it. Read Full Review

Flickering Myth - Zeb Larson Jul 9, 2015

People don't usually respond well to mass killings, and somebody's going to want revenge. Combined with the fallout coming from the Hilltop, and Alexandria looks to be a deeply fractured community. To me, I can't help but wonder whether this is where Negan will have a chance to come back. With a new threat that's extraordinarily dangerous and a bunch of people who want revenge, Negan might be the right man for the job. Read Full Review

The events of this issue are extreme and sadistic, but if you haven't come to expect that from this book by this point than shame on you. Read Full Review
