The detailed drawings of Carlos Gomez feature intense character expressions. And the action panels are interesting and exciting. Aburtov's color work changes to match the tone of the scene in a transportive manner. This is a beautiful issue that enhances your engagement in the story. Read Full Review

Vazquez absolutely came through this issue with reveal after reveal! I really do like the decision to reveal how Americas childhood is very different from how she remembers it. I enjoy how her mothers are scientists both from the Bronx making the two more relatable. My mom was born in the Bronx so that right there is something that I could personally connect to. I have high expectations of what this creative has planned for America! Read Full Review
America's abductor claims to be a long-lost younger sister, and she gets down to the business of trying to sell the hero a less-fantastical (yet still subtly magical) version of her origin. The sisters' conflict is relieved with flashbacks to their moms' experiences, lending the weight of narrative authority to the sister's claims. It's drawn beautifully and the ideas are intriguing; I'm way more engaged than I thought I'd be with "mundane-ing down" America Chavez's backstory. The dialogue winds up being mighty expository to get all those ideas out, though.
Not sure how I feel about this newest origin, but we'll see. It beats the last one, at least.
So Chavez has a sister? This is a strange deus ex machina. I really expected better, especially since America's powers have been unreliable since Ultimates. As long as she keeps wearing those crop tops though, America will stay getting a pass from me. Now if only the entire continent she's named after could follow her example ...

Art and colours are still great. But that sister plot twist was very predictable. And would also like to know why do a retcon if it is not as good as the original idea?
