I don't think Garth Ennis will ever truly leave The Punisher. His run on the character was defining for both his career and character. Valley Forge was his final arc, now it's War Zone, and I'm sure there will be another "ending" down the line. But, Ennis writing Punisher isn't something anyone should complain about. The resurrection of Ma might seem like a stretch from a story perspective… her death appeared pretty final. But, that hasn't stopped these two issues from kicking ass. Read Full Review
Ennis' best work (outside of Preacher), serves as the comic book equivalent of a well-written exploitation film from the 1970's. War Zone seems to fall somewhere under these parameters. The book certainly portrays itself as a carnal sort of entertainment, but there is just enough depth here to keep things interesting from week to week. For anyone skeptical of a weekly Punisher comic, you can rest your concerns. This is easily as good as anything Ennis has written over the last few years. Read Full Review
But overall, this is turning out to be a good return to Ennis and Dillon's old stomping grounds. If they manage to bring it all together to tell a good story, this could end up being a really good sequel. We'll have to see how it goes. Read Full Review
