X-O Manowar #33 is an excellent start to the new story arc and successfully introduces cosmic events while tying them to Aric's character and past. I really enjoy how Aric's character development is treated with consistency, and as a result it's easy to become engrossed in the various situations. Not much is shown about the new threat but the sequence of events is very intriguing so I'm looking forward to seeing what unfolds next, and more about the prophecy.Rafa Sandoval provides great artwork in this first issue and I'm pleased with the choice. I thought that the last story arc was so dope and would be hard to top but I have high expectations for this one now too. Read Full Review

Fantastic, flowing cloaks, blood that any warrior would be proud of, beautifully epic space sequence and the Vine, X-O Manowar #33 just might be everything that a new fan could need to get hooked on this brilliant character and brilliant series from Valiant. X-O Manowar #33 is definitely a good issue, although it’s a little underwhelming for new readers. Robert Venditti does a good job at establishing Aric’s character throughout a long flashback sequence, but the slow story and set-up nature of this issue hold it back from being truly captivating. I’ll be back next month, though. I know that Robert Venditti won’t fail to provide us with a grandiose and epic story. Bring on Dead Hand! Read Full Review
I get that feeling from this, unlike other things I've read this week, I can read this and understand that there's something here that I'm not "getting" and that it's part of a decent larger narrative. I can guess that it's decent because what's here is well written and well-drawn, it has all the signs of something well done. It's just not for me and I don't think it's enough to draw in somebody that isn't already a fan. If you're a fan and you know what's going you'll probably buy the book anyway. If you're a neophyte, like me, then find something else that will draw you in more. Read Full Review

Good but transition issue
Uneventul filler issue. Which AFAICR is a first for the modern Valiant, hope this doesnt become a common practice in the future.
X-O is transitioning to a new arc here and this whole issue focuses on historical flashbacks, the significance of which are not yet clear. I'm sure this issue will prove relevant to the upcoming Dead Hand story arc, but on it's own it offers very little story to sink your teeth into.
I read this but I totally forget all of it. Not very intriguing and after the last disappointing story arc I'm starting to get worried about this title.
