If it wasn't clear to you yet, Heroes Reborn is all about going for broke with crazy stakes and even crazier ideas. It almost seems like a reaction to DC Comics' Death Metal, only it's not taking itself too seriously, and we know it'll all be reset before too long. The best advice when reading Heroes Reborn might be to remember what it was like to smash action figures together when you were little and not caring one bit if anyone is watching while a big grin forms across your face. Truthfully, more is needed to keep this event alive. An event that began with excitement and intrigue has turned dull and mild. Readers need more than one-shot bio pieces with one-page cliffhangers. If you're curious about the SQUADRON SUPREME or Doctor Spectrum, this issue is for you. Otherwise, you can pass and really not miss a beat in the entire story to this point. Doctor Spectrum battles across the galaxy in the name of America in another issue that seems more like a one-shot than a sequential and dynamic cohesive story of any real substance. But with James Stokoe on art duties, it's more than enough to save another thin-on-plot comic book. Read Full Review

After a couple of issues where things are good enough in this new status quo, Heroes Reborn surprises everyone by showing just how sinister the new world really is. Turning Doctor Spectrum into a full-on Redneck stereotype is just what was needed to show how absurd everything is.

A little talky for me, I’m not a huge fan of the art style either.

Continuing on the same crazy path as already established, this issue feels somewhat crazier and better even if it suffers from the same problem which is the world building that needs to happens as the issue unrolls and that is very hard to do. Could have been much better as an Avengers series with room to breath and build the Squadron Supreme properly but alas we take what we can get I guess. Good and fun take from Aaron on the idea of a manipulated "Hero" who really is a sociopath on a rampage. Stokoe is outstanding as always and I'm happy I got to witness his crazy detailed art here.

I know they’re written as satire, but I actually like the Squadron Supreme. It is refreshing to see superheroes unashamedly fight for God and country and believe in ideals higher then themselves. If a writer had enough talent to write a compelling character that accurately portrayed and fought for the beliefs held by half of this country instead of making buffoonish characters to mock those beliefs, I bet they would get enormous support from this significant portion of society who are woefully underrepresented in the world of comics.

But the thing is that Jason Aaron does make fun of those beliefs here pretty clearly. I agree with you, if a writer would do what you say it would be indeed a great thing but Aaron doesn't do that, he makes fun of patriotism like the moron that he is.

This was enjoyable. All of them have been but, its clear that this "event" is just a fun read and nothing more. Its just a shame that instead of just making this part of the Avengers, which is where the story kind if began, they made a long drawn out series that is pretty much one shots about squadron supreme when they could have spent this time telling an actual story.

Stokoe's art is great and it fits the hyper-violent, radical and even sinister nature of the issue and the character, but overall the issue is just more of the same crazy, but also rushed and poorly presented ideas, that plagued the previous issues. Again issue is build upon of shock value and references and sure there are some fun moments because of that, but to be honest I don't think this event would go down as particularly memorable and at this point I don't think it's trying to.

Bounty hunter Rocket Raccoon is hired to put a stop to psycho space-cop Dr. Spectrum. He fails -- but his defeat awakens another powerful Squadron opponent who knows this world has been tampered with. The fight is pretty simplistic and features some dreadfully corny dialogue. Spectrum's "Manifest Destiny IN SPAAACE" schtick makes him the least interesting of the Supremes featured so far. The grotesque art is done well, displaying tremendous skill -- but this style just doesn't line up with my tastes at all.

A mixed big. While the story is still well told & this issue has some cool reveals it doesn't live up to #1-3. The art is rough too chaotic to follow, the cover (& setup) is misleading and the entire affair feels drawn out.
This issue also lacks some elements that made the others. I barely saw any DC callouts/pastiches or at the very least I didn't notice them. What I also appreciated about #2 & 3 is the complexity in Hyperion and Blurr. They're flawed, overly-violent, heroes but heroes nonetheless. They're being manipulated, but propably good people at heart that could be redeemed. Doctor Spectrum has no such complexities. He's just a sociopath.

The art looked a lot better, and granted we know how this new world happened.

Here's the thing, the pacing is sluggish, this is basically introductions to each squadron Supreme, the action is lacking, thanos doesn't appear that much, the dialogue is weird. We should have had an entire series of introducing the squadron Supreme and then we had a crossover
