The Comicbook Dispatch - StoryBabbler May 9, 2024

Venom #33 begins the first part of its tie-in to the current Blood Hunt event. The art change to Juan Ferreyra was nice since their style adds a visual sense of horror and surrealism that lends itself well to not only Venom stories but a story with Vampires attacking. The story is chock full of narration from the Venom symbiote who takes the lead in this comic while Dylan finds a safe spot to sleep during the event. While, yes, Lee Price does show up, it's not in a significant manner, but there's another vampiric villain who brings more menace and danger for Venom to face in this story. Read Full Review

Enjoyed the story and the art was incredible. I don't remember anything about Lee Price or the character revealed at the end, but I don't really care. The meat of the story was Venom's relationship with Dylan and everything happening around that. And the art was some of the best Venom art I've seen in a long time. Reminded me of Erik Larsen mixed with Ed McGuinness. Just fantastic.

Once again Ewing shines with his tie-ins.Ferreyra's art was amazing and script uses the setting very well.

I can see why people might not think highly of this issue. While I don't think it's amazing, it is pretty solid. The art is fantastic.

The thing is, I love the art, and I like how we see Venom symbiote's thoughts on its experiences with bonding with Spidey, Eddie Brock, Lee Price, etc. But this story was kind of all over the place, and dragged this issue down for me.
