Batman: Sins of the Father #2

Mar 26, 2018

I know not everyone likes this setting, and again, I dont love everything about it either. But I do think its a rather innovative take, which I appreciate, and its not as if its part of the mainstream canon or anything. Its easy enough to think of it as yet another parallel Earth or something. Certainly, for anyone who did enjoy the Telltale Batman games this comic is great, and I definitely recommend it.

Mata Hari (2018) #1

Jan 23, 2018

I greatly enjoyed this issue and am looking forward to more. To anyone who is interested in history, particularly womens history, this comic is a must. Dark Horses Mata Hari is as beautiful and seductive as its titular character, and I give it my highest recommendation, as both a comic book fan and an early twentieth century historian.

Star Trek: Discovery Annual #1

Apr 5, 2018

In conclusion, if you did like Discovery, this is probably a good comic for you. If not, then you might still enjoy this if what bothered you about Discovery was the lack of character writing that is so integral to Star Trek. If you are planning to watch Discovery at any point, though, I suggest you read this comic, as it will give Stamets, Culber and Tillys plots a lot more meaning for you.

Star Wars (2014) #42

Jan 22, 2018

Anyway, Ive really enjoyed this comic, in spite of my issues with the art style. It is absolutely perfect for someone who loves the movies but hasnt invested in much of the extended canon. Its a great introduction to Star Wars comics and a wonderful exploration of Han, Luke, and Leia as characters.Rating: 4.5 out of 5 Stars

Star Wars Adventures: Forces of Destiny: Rey #1

Jan 10, 2018

This comic is definitely a great all-ages comic, particularly for girls and young women, but I have actually been enjoying these stories just as a Star Wars fan, and I am really looking forward to the next issue.

Star Wars: Darth Vader #15

Apr 30, 2018

Anyway, this comic has definitely been one of my favorites, and Im really enjoying it more as time goes on (though I sort of miss seeing the Grand Inquisitor, I hope he pops back up again). For anyone who hasnt read it, I definitely suggest you do.

Star Wars: Doctor Aphra #16

Feb 6, 2018

Anyway, I absolutely loved this issue of Doctor Aphra and am, as always, eagerly anticipating the next one. I cannot recommend this comic highly enough to any fans of Star Wars or even just general space adventures.

Star Wars: Doctor Aphra #17

Feb 27, 2018

This comic is really starting to tie into a lot of the greater themes of Star Wars, and I'm excited to see that. I'm also glad to see Hera, even if I think we went into this a little soon. I'm really glad that we've found a way to make Doctor Aphra a more integrated part of the extended canon, without making it not feel like Aphra anymore, and am really looking forward to future issues.

Star Wars: Doctor Aphra #19

May 1, 2018

Anyway, while Im not totally thrilled with the direction of the Triple Zero plot, I still think this comic is a lot of fun, really well written, and absolutely beautiful. Its a great pick for both hardcore Star Wars fans and people who dont usually really enjoy the extended canon of Star Wars at all.

Star Wars: Poe Dameron #24

Feb 20, 2018

Anyway, as I said this wasnt my favorite issue, but this is still one of my favorite comics. I still think Poe Dameron is one of the best expansions we have, in that it actually tells us stuff about the sequel setting and has the bonus of usually being really fun. I still highly recommend the comic as a whole, even if this issue wasnt my favorite.

Star Wars: Thrawn #3

Apr 16, 2018

That being said, there are some great moments. I liked seeing Thrawns ridiculous disguise in the diner scene, of course, and all of Pryces outfits are great. And again, Ill buy this issue because I dont want Disney to think Pryce isnt worth marketing, as she certainly is. But if you take one thing from this, its that this comic is not a decent substitute for the book.
