Bryce Sexton Comic Reviews

If you are looking for a comic that embodies classic elements while still feeling modern, which gives it a truly timeless appeal, look no further than Ghost of a Ghost #1. The Hellboy universe delivers yet another fantastic installment that any fan, new or experienced, can jump into and have an amazing time.

In an age where dark fantasy comics are more abundant than ever, The Karman Blade #1 manages to stand out from the crowd. It is unafraid to be itself and knows when to lean into genre tropes and when to subvert them. This issue feels like the start of a solid, memorable entry in the Image Comics library, the dark fantasy genre, and the comics medium as a whole.

This issue of The Karman Blade takes readers in a completely different direction than they might have expected, but I believe that it is for the better. This issue shows that this story is one that, while in a bit of an oversaturated genre, is not afraid to play beyond the confines of said genre. It swings big, and it swings hard, and I believe that if it continues down its new path, The Karman Blade can knock it out of the park.
