Abe Sapien (2013) #10

Feb 11, 2014

In between snippets of the wider insanity, we get a pretty big revelation about Abe too which could well be the crux that moves this arc to its conclusion.

B.P.R.D.: Hell On Earth #116

Feb 18, 2014

I really enjoyed this book and I think you will too, but it's not a pivotal issue by any means.

Blackout #1

Mar 25, 2014

Six pages of measured buildup lead to a final frame which is easily the best artwork in the whole comic and which let me wanting to know more about this story.

Bounce #9

Jan 28, 2014

This issue features exposition that twists the plot arc in a few new ways and also some pleasingly intense fight scenes, closing with a seemingly innocuous conversation that threatens to send everything going that one step closer to absolute insanity.

Bounce #10

Feb 25, 2014

This is the comic equivalent of a Russian Circles or God is An Astronaut song dropping into your otherwise straightforward playlist. Confusing yet engaging and leaving you wanting more.

Dead Letters #1

Apr 1, 2014

Dead Letters has me hooked, with a twisted take on some classic archetypes that should appeal to all sorts.

Judge Dredd: Classics #8

Feb 4, 2014

However, there's not much here for anyone else and of all the Dredd tales it's aged particularly badly. In short, there are a hundred Dredd stories I'd point folks towards before this.

Legenderry: A Steampunk Adventure #2

Feb 11, 2014

To be honest, the whole thing seems a bit forced and combined with the artwork puts me in mind of a group of folks playing 7th Sea while calling themselves Green Hornet, Vampirella etc.

It's not terrible by any means, but it just didn't pop with me.

The Death-Defying Doctor Mirage: Second Lives #3

Feb 9, 2016

All in all, this is yet another stylish, layered and emotional installment in what has been a quality series.

The Fuse #1

Feb 11, 2014

All in all, this is a solid first outing, if not quite mind blowing just yet. One to watch.

The Mercenary Sea #1

Feb 11, 2014

I'm not exaggerating, this series looks to be a lot of fun and given how well-realised our main players are in the first issue – plus the three or four long term arcs that have already been seeded – I'd recommend you jump on board at the beginning.

The Saviors #2

Jan 28, 2014

All in, this is a very cool and even more promising title from a great writer and just as awesome artist. Check it out.

The Shadow: Year One #7

Jan 28, 2014

The combination of effective artwork and an almost surprisingly engaging story (given the relatively well worn tropes on display) makes this a series well worth getting into. I might have to go back and buy the earlier issues myself.

Transformers: Redemption #1

Oct 27, 2015

The Transformers are all grown up and if, like me youve been away from Cybertron for a while, I would advice that you return for a visit but keep your blaster handy and enough energon in your tank for a quick getaway.

Venus #2

Jan 27, 2016

Venus has an interesting setting but is otherwise unremarkable from either a plot, characterization or artwork point of view. Im willing to check out the next edition to see what happens, but Im not exactly counting the days

Warhammer 40,000: Revelations #2

Apr 11, 2017

All in all, Revelations suffers from issues withpacing and exposition, resulting in a promising story becoming an afterthought. That said, the issue is redeemed somewhat by the quality artwork.

Witchblade (1995) #172

Jan 28, 2014

It's a bit of a jump to get into if you're not already down with the Darkness/Witchblade canon, but this should light any devotees of the series up like a Christmas tree.
