Everything #1

Jun 4, 2020

This is a story only Cantwell and I.N.J Culbard can tell, complete with a uniquely retro feel and intriguing commentary on values and capitalism. The story hits its stride after its first issues, raising interesting questions about where it (and all of us) go from here.

Frank at Home on the Farm #1

Nov 18, 2020

This book has a lot more to do to get on my good side. It uses mental illness as a vehicle for horror without going into the nitty-gritty of what makes the mental illness horrifying. The art is strong, and the world of the book feels like a place of slow-build terror, but is rather disappointing in most regards. Heres hoping it improves in future issues.

Mirka Andolfo's Mercy #2

Jun 3, 2020

The strong visual language and well-crafted art combine well with the dialogue, and the horror narrative Andolfo weaves is makes this book unique. Yet, when it comes to the story, the narrative feels like it has plodded for two issues, making this a potential trade wait.

Tartarus #3

Jun 17, 2020

Three issues in, the book has created a dense and rewarding mythology. This world is filled to the brim with retro science-fiction stylization and excellent storytelling, and its one of the best books currently on the shelves. I absolutely recommend it if youre into any of those things.

The Plot #5

Jul 1, 2020

This remains a horror story that is easy for the audience to get into, understand, and enjoy. This book is one of the best examples on how to do horror comics right. This particular issue is a vehicle for more subtle and lurking horror that creates an eerie environment bursting at the seams with potential. The team has provided a story that will be sat amongst the greats of the horror genre.

Vampire: The Masquerade #4 is another great addition to the world that the creative team has established. It places characters into a new situation, leaving the audience to await the next issue with much anticipation. With much of the world-building established, it truly seems like this book is about to go bonkers and I, for one, cannot wait.

A fantastic first issue, and an amazing first look at the world of a brand-new sci-fi epic. The artwork and writing combine to craft a powerhouse of a comic that might be the best book of 2020 if the quality stays this high.
