Batman / Superman (2013) Annual #2

Apr 7, 2015

Greg Pak (World War Hulk) infuses this story with continuing banter between Batman and Superman. Its lovely. In some instances, Batman is the overprotective big brother while Superman is the overly impulsive little brother. The art in this comic is amazing, all very vibrant and detailed without losing the essence of the characters slightly reminding me of Jim Lees work in Justice League. This can be attributed to a large number of pencilers and inkers assigned to this book. Surely, theres too many to list but the names that caught my eye included Ian Churchill (Superior, Deadpool: Sins Of The Past) and Mark Morales (Guardians Of The Galaxy, New X-Men). While not a must buy, big fans of the Worlds Finest should find the book enjoyable enough, with a twist ending to top.

Green Lantern Corps (2011) #40

Mar 17, 2015

One difference between this new retelling of the incident and the original is that John initially arrives at Xanshi with Katma Tui instead of the Martian Manhunter. Also a treat is the artwork from Bernard Chang (The forthcoming Batman Beyond) and Mirko Colak (Deadpool) and their vivid recreation of the Xanshis explosion in the beginning. Now, for the important question: Where does the GLC go from here? I suppose well let Convergence decide that now, wont we.

Justice League (2011) #41

Jun 9, 2015

Said story would be courtesy of DCs Scripter Supreme, Mister Geoff Johns. Everything this guy writes, from Aquaman to Green Lantern to The Flash, is GOLD in my book and this first chapter of The Darkseid War just ups his already impeccable resume. I also enjoyed the art of Jason Fabok(Detective Comics). While Im not familiar with his artwork, one sequence in this book features the strangest Boom Tube appearance Ive ever seen in a comic. I loved the details of the bowels of Apokolips as Mister Miracle makes his way through. Also, the almost shadowy appearance of Darkseid makes this well-established villain look even more sinister.

Stray (2015) #1

Mar 3, 2015

I enjoyed the story for what it was. The situation between Doberman and Rottweiler reminded me a lot of Big Daddy and Hit-Girl in Kickass. Definitely enjoyed the artwork from Khary Randolph (Tech Jacket, Justice League Beyond 2.0), Sean Izaakse, and all the others. Hey! I was initially skeptical because of the dog motif, but the storyline has potential.
