Action Comics (2016) #999

Mar 15, 2018

Action Comics #1000 isn't here just yet, but issue 999 will do just fine for now. Jurgens delivers a true Superman story without the use of a bad guy. I'm glad that Jurgens understands what characteristicsmake Superman who he is. It's not the muscles, the lasers, or even the trunks. It's Superman's unwavering morals, loyalty, and kind nature that makes Superman a timelesssuccess.

Batman (2016) #39

Jan 23, 2018

This story is said to be the finale of the “Super Friends” story but it really seemed like a part 1 to me. Certainly not like a finale. I feel like it can't be. If the structure of the story was as unstructured as this issue then I guess it would check out. The cliffhanger and the art may keep some on board, but for me, it's not enough. Batman is my favorite character, but I'm putting my comic book money towards other titles.

Black Bolt #8

Dec 11, 2017

This comic leaves me wanting to find more by Saladin Ahmed. It leaves me wanting to go back and read the first volume. This comic leaves me wanting the next issue. This comic book accomplishes what comic books are supposed to accomplish. If you are like meand want to jump on board, I recommend it. Don't let this series slip under your radar. I'm going to have to keep an eye out for the next issue myself.

Flash (2016) #39

Jan 29, 2018

The Flash's 700th issue is a good story, with terrific potential. There wasn't anything screaming at me, “THIS IS AWESOME!” but I found myself entertained. (The point of comics I think) This was largely a set-up issue, so it really is okay. It does it”s job of preparing us for the next issue, which looks brutal for the Flash. Now that we have build-up out-of-the-way give me some Grodd action in #40 Mister Williamson!

Flash (2016) Annual #1

Feb 2, 2018

Joshua Williamson has delivered a very effective annual and prelude. If this issue doesn't get you pumped for "Flash War" I don't know what will. The Flash is fast, but the wait for May will be slow.

Green Lantern (2011) #37

Dec 22, 2017

I'll admit the space stories can be hard, and “Green Lanterns” is no different. While it's not bad, it's not great either. The story shows potential, and I'm interested in part 2. I feel like issue 38 has the potential to steer this story in an awesome direction. I'm a big fan of the Green Lantern Corps, and I'm am glad to see some new Lantern's thrown in the spotlight. Both Simon Baaz, and Jessica Cruz are solid characters. This issue is saved by the two main characters. It helps to have strong character development. Between this series and "Hal Jordan", the Lantern Corps in Rebirth is working for me.

Injustice 2 #21

Mar 8, 2018

Booster Gold, Ted Kord, and others provide some chuckles. It's apparent that Tom Taylor has a good sense of humor, and more importantly, knows when to use it.

Judas #1

Dec 13, 2017

If you are not a Christian and just looking for a story, you may enjoy it more than I did, but then again maybe not. If you are a Christian and have knowledge of the Bible, then you probably wouldn't be a fan.I can hold on to the hope that later issues will redeem the comic, or that I misinterpreted the author's intent. For now, I am not pleased with the four-part limited series. The Bible is a beautiful book that needs to be handled properly. “Judas” flops in my opinion. The creators aren't necessarily untalented, but just produced a comic that I personally didn't like.

Justice League (2016) #36

Jan 8, 2018

With these ingredients, it had a recipe for success, and I really hope the story continues in this direction. Out of all the many threats, the Justice League have faced, none may be as scary as"the people.

Suicide Squad (2016) #36

Feb 28, 2018

I didn't hate the issue, but I certainly didn't like it. Full transparency, I'm not a big Suicide Squad fan, which isn't helped whenthe issue in questionwasn't executed well. If the creative team can make adjustments, and think through their issues moving forward, there may be some hope for the Suicide Squad.

Superman (2016) #37

Dec 20, 2017

Tomasi and Gleason are awesome together and Jorge Jimenez is a talented artist. With all the excitement that's surrounded Action Comics recently, it has, in turn, hid the regular Superman title. Don't let this series fall away into comic book irrelevancy. I totally suggest that you be reading Superman, and this is coming from a Batman guy. Gleason and Tomasi are some of my favorite guys in comics right now, and you don't want to miss what they're up to!

The Unbeatable Squirrel Girl (2015) #27

Dec 15, 2017

I've wondered what the appeal to Squirrel Girl was and thought maybe I'd find out. Is it the humor of a superhero who talks to squirrels? Is it found in the comedic way that she always wins despite her power set? Maybe it's all in the name Squirrel Girl? As I read, I failed to find the appeal. Squirrel Girl just isn't my piece of cake I guess.I don't like giving negative reviews, but I dislike giving dishonest reviews even more. Squirrel Girl is too weird for me. And this is coming from a guy who got interested in the Ninja Turtles as a teenager.
