Aquaman (2016) #29

Oct 28, 2017

Aquaman is far and away Dan Abnetts best written book right now. Its exciting, inventive and full of thought-provoking twists plus great fight scenes and winning dialogue. His Rebirth run on Aquaman has exceeded his New 52 run on the series by leaps and bounds. Coupled with Stjepan Sejics lush and lovely artwork, this is a book that is always at the top of my pile on Wednesdays"and it should be at the top of yours, too.

Black Panther (2016) #166

Oct 31, 2017

Couple his quietly bold and inventive vision with detailed descriptions of Wakanda as a country and some of Marvels best veteran artists and you have what continues to be a profound and insightful take on one of the finest superheroes ever created by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby.

Falcon (2017) #1

Oct 25, 2017

Falcon #1 is a less-than-stellar debut. The characterization is clich and mediocre, providing no fresh or interesting insights into the lead and supporting characters. However, the action sequences are well-staged and the artwork is effective and exciting. Plus, the story ends on a high note by revealing a powerful villain who isnt overused and could drive the story to greater heights. Though I cant enthusiastically recommend this book, its only the 1st inning. Im willing to buy the next issue to see if the writer can get the bases loaded or even hit a home run.

Flash (2016) #33

Oct 31, 2017

Unless you're a huge Metal fan or a Flash completist, please do yourself a favor and skip this. But if you love brainless action without meaningful characterization? This is the book for you.

Superman (2016) #33

Oct 27, 2017

Superman remains one of DCs best books when the focus is primarily on family. A weaker issue of the Tomasi/Gleason Superman, but still a better comic than most books currently on the stands.

Teen Titans (2016) #13

Oct 31, 2017

This issue set up events for the next chapter, but it never read as dull or plodding. Throwing in classic Green Arrow villain Onomatopoeia was a nice touch and the interaction between Damian and Emiko worked well, too. Top it all off with strong artwork from Pham, Scott, and Charalampidis and you have another good issue in what has been shaping up to be one of the better runs of Teen Titans.
