Miranda-Rodrguez shows in 15 pages just how far reaching our heritage can go, connecting the struggles of the Puerto Rican people to the never ending growth of the galaxy. His ability to tell a story that stays true to his love for comics, his cultural heritage, and New York City proves that the mainstream can and should continue to invest in the narratives of marginalized peoples.

La Borinquea #2 definitely stumbled a bit in its first act, bringing together narratives and characters in heavy handed ways, but it manages to set the stage for a gripping and realistic end. Not to mention a crazy cliffhanger!
