Jul 20, 2019

Overall, stellar first issue and Im eagerly anticipating the next chapter in this surreal team-up that I am still pleasantly surprised happened in the first place.

Black Hammer/Justice League: Hammer of Justice! #2

Sep 4, 2019

Im stoked to learn how Barry sacrificed himself, what Cyborgs theories lead to for the rest of the story and more hilarious moments between the dysfunctional Black Hammer and the complex but mostly stable League members. Whatever crazy cosmic multiverse shenanigans ensue next I'm onboard for this wild ride.

Dick Tracy Forever #1

Jul 7, 2019

Dick Tracy Forever #1 was a bit of a slow burn and only really got a spark going once Dick Tracy really showed up. The art was mixed, but Im hoping for it to improve in the next three issues. Hopefully now that Dick Tracy is officially making the rounds with criminal scum well get to see more gadgets, bullets and this series turns into what a 1930s gangster film written/directed by Quentin Tarantino would look like. If you love Dick Tracy you may not get exactly what youre hoping for here, but it looks to be the start of what could be an intriguing new Dick Tracy adventure.

Dick Tracy Forever #3

Jul 16, 2019

Despite the mini series being called Dick Tracy Forever, from what I read the 21st century has turned Tracy into just another cop. Maybe thats the hazard of any Dick Tracy story, that the line between the character and every Sam Spade/Phil Marlowe character archetype is all too thin. Still, Dick Tracy has endured for all these years for a reason and while it may not be perfect, this series is still a fun, light read and an admirable experiment for learning who Dick Tracy becomes depending on what era hes in.

Gideon Falls #14

Jun 25, 2019

Not themost thrilling issue of Lemires incredible series but a mediocre issue of Gideon Falls is still an excellent comic by normal comic standards.

Gideon Falls #15

Jul 30, 2019

Another chilling and excellent issue. Its clear to see why Gideon Falls won its Eisner as it provides gorgeous art and thought provoking plot developments every month. If you havent gotten around to picking up this series I highly recommend going out and checking out the first trade paperback. Cheers to more issues of following our cast through terrifying trips through the Gideon Falls multiverse.

Wolverine: Exit Wounds #1

Jun 29, 2019

The stories in Wolverine Exit Wounds arent anything innovative or take the character anywhere new. Still, these three flash fictions into the life of our favorite Canadian mutant hit just enough beats to pass as satisfying Wolverine tales to satisfy the fan in us. If you are a die hard Wolverine fan then go ahead and pick up this special, otherwise Id advise to wait to spend your money until it is inevitably collected in a trade with more Wolverine stories. All in all, Wolverine Exit Wounds was a light journey through familiar if enjoyable territory for the character and a nice revisit from all these former Wolverine contributors.

X-Men: Grand Design: X-Tinction #2

Jun 26, 2019

X-Men Grand Design X-Tinction was a bleak, gorgeous and surprisingly heartfelt ride that reminded me why we love the X-men and mutants in the first place. Its the ongoing struggle, the family bonds, the unyielding heartbreak and hope for these outcast characters that made the franchise so uncanny in our minds to begin with. The complicated history of the X-men may seem intimidating but if youre a casual fan of the X-men or just a fan of great artwork then youre sure to get something from this series.
