Nightwing (2016) #80

May 21, 2021

This issue continues to keep the series' momentum going as Tom Taylor brings his usual high-quality writing to this product. If this series is any indication, Taylor's future with DC will be full of even more top-tier and fan-favorite books. As a hardcore Nightwing and DC Comics fan, it's hard to find anything negative at all about this series. Especially not any that would bog down all the positives and great things in general about this series. High recommendations go to this issue as well as both past issues!

Suicide Squad (2021) #1

Mar 15, 2021

Ultimately, this new Suicide Squad team is refreshing and intriguing enough to warrant your attention. I wasn't going into this issue with much of any expectations, but this new set of squad members and whatever Waller has planned got me invested enough to want to continue reading the series.

Swamp Thing (2021) #1

Mar 9, 2021

Ram V. sets up an intriguing new story that left me greatly anticipating his future issues in this mini-series. The new protagonist is setup to be a unique and likable addition to the Swamp Thing mythos, but with a villain as crazy powerful as this new "pale wanderer", you have to wonder just how this anxious, confused man will even come close to surviving another encounter with the creepy creature.

Teen Titans Academy (2021) #1

Apr 15, 2021

Issue #1 of Teen Titans Academy does a very good job overall at setting up storylines and intrigue for the future of the series. It is clear that the allure of Red X is the main hook of the book's narrative currently. And as long as the new teens and their dynamics with other heroes are better developed and established before this Red X storyline comes to an end, this series should do well at broadening the scope of the Teen Titans series. With something as unique and new to the Titans as this, the shake up in premise could go either way, so this first arc is going to be an important one for the series.

The Joker (2021) #2

Apr 16, 2021

I would definitely recommend Joker #2 to Batman fans as this is a worthwhile development for Jim Gordon that follows up the events of multiple great past stories. I wouldn't say that the Punchline backup story is worthwhile, which is sad to see after I found the character quite interesting in James Tynion IV's previous run. But overall I think the title story makes the issue worthwhile enough for fans to pick it up and enjoy it.
