Crosswind #1

Sep 25, 2017

All in all, I enjoyed the first installment of Crosswind, and I look seeing how each of our protagonists handle their predicament.

Freeway Fighter #1

May 31, 2017

The story transitions in a broad stroke from past to present, but this reviewer feels that, while this is only the initial setup of a larger picture, the tale was a little short. This may be a bias as dystopian tales have always held a personal soft spot, but I feel that more pages could have been leant toward the story itself and less to variant covers.

Grimm Tales Of Terror Vol 3 #5

Jun 11, 2017

I did enjoy the rough art style of Massimiliano Veltri and felt that it fit the story well. What seemed like rushed strokes of the pen in some frames helped enhance the grit of the moment without overlooking some of the finer details. Gamboa and Ruiz colours do a fine job at enhancing the mood of the scenes without being overly bright in setting shots, while helping push the moment in the more dramatic panels.

The Divided States of Hysteria #1

Aug 4, 2017

Visually, there is a lot going on throughout the comic as Chaykin's detail work is quite impressive. I found myself going back over some panels more than once to try to make out the finer details and investigate the overlaid images. It made me appreciate the bonus pages at the end that showcased the process between Chaykin art and Bruzenak lettering even more.

The Lost Fleet: Corsair #1

As one who did not read the novels, the comic does a decent job establishing enough back story to pick up and run with. That said, I have no doubt a much richer appreciation for the factions of the story could be had by diving into the novels and reading the adventures of Black Jack.

Wonder Woman (2011) #52

May 18, 2016

Is it packed with powerful messages and plot depth? No. But it's packed with action, a lot of beautiful illustrations, and the end may stir up some surprising emotions. What matters is that it feelslike the series finale and that's exactly what we get.

Wonder Woman (2016) #1

Jun 22, 2016

Be ready for a Wonder Woman issue that feels significantly different than what we've witnessed in the New 52. Wonder Woman looks and feels so much more powerful with the new creative team at the helm and you're immediately drawn in.Rucka is able to build momentum and anticipation with every panel until youre met with the final page thats both visually and thematically stunning. And its only issue one. Buckle up buckeroos, I have a feeling Wonder Woman will be a post-Rebirth chart topper.
