Id guess if you enjoy the television series, this is a nice issue to continue whats no longer on television. If you enjoy Science Fiction, this is a solid piece. It doesnt say anything new or noteworthy, much of the themes have been done many times, but it does tell the story in a way thats enjoyable.

On its own, Id say no. However, as the climactic ending to a powerful 3 part series, especially illustrated so supremely by Cary Nord, Id say its a must.

As I noted, this isnt my normal, light reading fare. The story has a strong philosophical bent about life, what makes life, and what were willing to do to protect our way of life. It isnt funny, and it doesnt try to be, but it is a comic that you may want to read more than once, just to absorb the ideas presented. That, alone, is worth the cover price.

I'd stay on this train for a bit. The story is solid enough, the art remains a highlight, and it's clear you're going somewhere when they hit you with what that alien/scientist has built.

If youve enjoyed Imperium, then I dont know why youd not want this one, as its more men existing in the moral grey areas who are at war together. If you like your heroes a bit grey and the fight as much about ideas as about fists, then this should work fine. Then again, if you just like a good yarn thats fun and smartly written, you cant go wrong with this either.

Im beginning to wonder if Valiant puts anything else out! With only a few hiccups, their offerings remain strong and this initial issue is a good sign that theyve added another to many pull files around the country. It has much of what Ive come to love from Valiant, and Im willing to bet itll have what youll love as well. Of course Im saying this without seeing the future.

It goes back to the beginning of Colins (thats Ninjaks real name) espionage career. It doesnt go well, and we get an interesting bit of information regarding his fighting ability (ahem, interesting in that its nonexistent). This story is also listed as a to be continued which is pretty exciting to think about a comic with a current and flashback story. Thats something Im glad to see after not seeing one of those issues (non-special) in awhile. Then again, its been awhile since weve seen wraparound metallic, embossed covers. That I can live with.

All told, this issue lays the last bit of groundwork to move the story to the climax and then an eventual resolution for the fans, and quite possibly Priest and Bright.

With a strong story and nice art pushing some boundaries, this story continues to build toward its final two issues. A few missteps in the humor aside, the overall experience is enjoyable and worth a read. Is it the best Q&W issue ever? Not by a long shot, but it keeps things moving and you might want to own it if issues 3 and 4 pay off.

Obviously, this wasn't a good lead-in issue for me. The images were beautiful, the dialogue was fine, but the overall story lacked much of what I've come to expect from Kindt. Perhaps he is spreading his wings a bit wider, trying not to be pigeon-holed as the “Action guy” after his successful run on Unity. However, this story just fell limp, especially as a lead-in to a new reader. If you love anime, especially of the far-future variety, then this may scratch an itch for you, and in fact, it may have been written with that particular audience in mind.

Aside from some potential dialogue missteps, any fan of Houdini or Doyle's Holmes will probably find more than a few carrots to enjoy. The writers are clearly setting up the mystery in this issue, giving you both red herrings and the details that Holmes will explain the significance around issue 5. It was a solid read, and as I said at the opening, much better than I anticipated.

Its an interesting take on the character, so if you like Solar, youll probably be good with this. Barbieres work is inconsistent, but when its good, its very good, so he may be someone to watch. Getting in on the ground floor of his career and seeing the development could contain some great moments. And Laus work is excellent, so if you like solid artwork (and who doesnt), he wont let you down.

Does the story come to a climax?Nope, but again, I didnt mind. This is the second movement of a larger work that is clearly building toward that satisfying moment. Its marked piannisimo, meant to lull you into comfort while forcing you to lean forward in your chair to listen closer to the subtle nuances of both the blended music and word. So who should buy this? If you love action, this wont be your thing. But if you love quiet stories that draw you in, I would daresay you cant go wrong with this issue. As for me, Ill probably wait for the trade so I can get a better sense of the overall work, but I honestly have never said that about anything else by Ellis. And that, more than anything else, should tell you all you need to know.

If you have a longtime history with the Teen Titans, you may hate the changes. If you're newer, only recognizing some elements, you might still be put off. My best guess " if you can watch Arrow and enjoy it without complaints that Oliver Queen "wouldn't do that in the comic" then you'll be good with this, especially if you like the heart of the characters presented here. It's a good, quick read and an interesting take on characters over 30 years old updated for modern sensibilities.

And in spite of that sounding like a commercial for Valiant, let me assure you that no money changed hands for the recommendation just great comics. Seriously, you should be reading Valiant.

I laughed quite a few times, and given its genre, thats a definite plus. It had some decent dialogue and similar, but lacked consistent storytelling elements, frequently forcing the obvious joke. If you love Quantum & Woody, its worth a read. If you love Archer & Armstrong, I think youll be happy. If you love both, then this is a must have. If youre like me and enjoy one series but not the other, you could certainly do worse,but if the goal of the team up was to connect new readers to another series, its missing quite a few necessary beats.

I dont know if Id say the top of the mountain, but its certainly moving in the right direction, which is exactly where youd want your third issue to go. They have one more to take it home, and if issue three's improvement over two is any indication, it should be a satisfying finish.

My love for Valiant's current work remains high. They consistently put out some of the best comics I've read, and this is a promising start. The quibbles I have our minimal and should be alleviated as the story progresses. It has functional artwork that did a great job illustrating an action sequence for Bloodshot. OH, and then they end the issue with artists notes over the black and white pages, always a great learning tool for aspiring artists and writers, and great for fans to see the logic that goes into each page. That alone can be worth the price of admission.

The end result is a solid book worth the price tag, assuming you like to laugh. It has some of the irreverent comedy Q&W made their staple. The artwork is solid. The gags are well-timed. The story isn't touching, unless you count that it touches the funny bone. All in told, a great ride and a joy to read. I'm willing to bet it'd make a great stocking stuffer.

Ill start with me. I know I had some harsh criticisms above, but its mostly elements that can be tweaked. I have hopes that the noted criticisms was are result of trying to move toward the action of the story, and now that were there, the creators can just tell a fun yarn with a unique environment. Rori is a likable character. Utilizing Japanese folklore is a great angle. Though this book can still improve, its an efficient start for a promising premise.
