While on paper, there's nothing wrong with adapting a short story in this way, in practice the result has more than a whiff of bottom-feeding cash-in, something that's dogged Avatar for years now. Without even having read the original story, I'm going to suggest that tracking it down–presumably it's in one of Martin's published collections–is probably more worthwhile than buying this comic. Skin Trade has a weak story with characters that don't really stick. Maybe if you're a fan of the novel and want to see the story done in a new medium, or have a very light pull list and are willing to stick out the run in the hopes it improves over time you might want to try this one.
