Angel Catbird is just a solid, well-rounded product that practically demands a diverse readership. Advertised as all-ages its the kind of book comic fans will appreciate because its well written and accessible. This is the second of three volumes, so the series is not quite over yet. After To Castle Catula youll be ready to move straight on to the next volume, but unfortunately youll have to wait until mid-Summer. So pick up this book and savor it as long as possible. Though slightly hampered by some flat jokes, Dark Horse Comics has produced something specially singular with Angel Catbird. Margaret Atwood, delving into a new medium with almost reckless abandon, delivers something roughly beautiful, marked with her trademark world building and too-crazy-not-to-love characters. Artists Johnnie Christmas and Tamra Bonvillain make Atwood's words fly with plenty of slick action and eye-popping colors. Ultimately, if you enjoyed the first volume of Angel Catbird then youll definitely enjoy the second as it delivers more of the same feline-themed shenanigans and zany world-building, all wrapped up in a bright, colourful package. Is it perfect? No, not by a long shot. But for an easily consumable slice of high-concept all-ages fantasy packed with cat puns and feline trivia, you could definitely do a lot worse.
