"Intro to Epics" is one of Wonder Woman's favorite classes at DC Super Hero High, but even for an overachiever, balancing high school literature assignments with learning to be a superhero can be tough. But you know what they say about learning-experience is the best teacher! So when Wonder Woman, Batgirl, Supergirl, Bumblebee, Poison Ivy, Katana, and Harley Quinn fight a cyclops, a witch, and a bevy of sirens, they're sure to learn a thing or two about The Odyssey-if they survive their epic battle in the underworld!
In short, this is a colorful, entertaining, inventive book, and the fact that there are activities and puzzles in the back makes me incredibly happy. DC Super Hero Girl Halloween Fest Special Edition #1 is good stuff, and I'd love to see more of this franchise in comics (or on TV), balancing clever with all-ages and looking beautiful. A little repetitive, not exactly original, but not at all without its charms. Even if I'm not the target audience for the DC Super Hero Girls stuff, I'm glad that there is an audience and they get their own comics material. It's bright, colorful, and fun, and charming in its own right. These books may not win any storytelling awards, but there are worse things a kid could be reading. And who knows, you may end up loving it, too. Read Full Review
