Again, this issue reads as a perfect companion to Rucka's Checkmate, which shouldn't be surprising when you consider it was Ostrander who first introduced many of the players and themes that Rucka modernized and ran with in his brilliant new series. With the new Squad ready to deploy on its first target, and just the right amount of under-the-table deals and double -rosses waiting around the corner to make their upcoming mission seem truly suicidal, this miniseries is finally living up to its lofty name and reputation.
