In an attempt to come clean, Jonny's sanity is called into question when he confesses to Emily about the guitar's true nature, which leads her to re-evaluate publishing her exposé on him. Jonny substitutes one addition for another by refusing to accept that the guitar can't fix his past. His full-blown obsession with saving Kirk - for better or worse - will take him down a path of no return.
