One hand can make or break you. That has never been more true than now, and not just for Roland, but for the entire galaxy. After the sacrifice he made, the house of cards that is LOST VEGAS and all it stands for, begins to crumble. As the saying goes, you have to know when to run.
When you get right down to it, this is probably a better introduction issue than it is a conclusion. Overall, it feels like we're just gearing up. All our characters have assemble, and revealed (some of) their underlying motivations; we've got some romantic tension (heck, maybe even a love triangle); and most importantly, we've got an elaborate sci-fi universe all set up, with a war waiting on the horizon. Whether or not this issue succeeds pretty much depends on whether or not you're rooting for an ongoing; but in terms of its ambitions and overall scope, I think “Lost Vegas” has always been long-form comic at heart. To be fair, I am far from trashing this final issue. Repeat readings are hard to resist when a comic is this good and McCann is meticulous in his efforts to address each loose end (even, and especially, if the way these are tied up is far from what the reader expects or hopes for). The final analysis of Lost Vegas is that the gamble paid off and Image readers are walking away with a big win (if a few chips short of the jackpot). The final analysis of Lost Vegas #4 itself will depend largely on what, if anything, comes later. If McCann dreams up a sequel and picks this promising story up where it left off, #4 will be remembered as one hell of a launchpad for what could be a real epic. While I have a lot of respect for the team behind it, Lost Vegas just wasn't for me. This first arc seems to be the prologue of some bigger adventure, but I think I'll step away from it, should it continue. Lost Vegas just isn't my flavor of space jam. Read Full Review
