The films lush, Italian backdrop also adds a great deal the films ambience. Theres something about Italy on film, that sense of vitality and quiet glamour. The four characters bounce back and forth from Mariannes villa to the small town nearby, taking in the Italian air, eating great Italian food, and trying to live like normal people for a little while in this beautiful yet mysterious landscape. But the cult of celebrity is impossible to escape, and before long the whole town becomes aware of her presence. Much like her attraction to Harry, Mariannes celebrity status and place in the world is difficult to escape. This is perhaps the main point that comes across in this film, how we cant escape ourselves, whether were rockstars, music producers, or just average joes. A Bigger Splash is an intriguing film with a great deal to say. It offers a unique perspective on a unique breed of human being and for this reason it is well worth seeing. Read Full Review
