Weekly Comic Book Review - Noah Sharma May 12, 2015

It's not the tightest of this week's Divergence shorts, but Divergence: Starfire charms, setting up a new status quo for a critically underused character. Conner and Palmiotti's Starfire is not yet everything that the character was in her classic days, but, particularly for the story they're telling, she feels right. Emanuela Lupacchino's artwork suits the character wonderfully and Hi-Fi proves a match for the beautiful colors Koriand'r brings with her. All in all, it's especially hard to review this short without considering what the upcoming series will look like, as the story itself is very conscious of that. It's definitely not a complete story, more of a prologue, but it gives a sense of some of the different ways the series' creative team could take the book and - surprise, surprise - it's fun, just as you'd expect.
