Overall, an excellent first issue, which pulls the reader further in. The story by Michael Watson and Victor Dandridge is continuing to intrigue. The art by Ren McKenzie, Michael Watson, Matt Kelner, Marc Voletich, Ryan Carter, and Joe Bucco, punches every frame. Altogether, a good installment in this heros journey. Read Full Review

Comic Bastards - Ben Boruff Aug 8, 2016

Legacy Rising Publications has created an elaborate superhero universe"one that, over time, could become a successful indie alternative to DC and Marvel"and Hotshot is an intriguing part of that universe. As a comic, Hotshot has flaws, but it also sports an undeniable charm, an underdog-ian magnetism that sugarcoats narrative irregularity as swift foreshadowing. I also think the marketing strategy might be overzealous and a bit arrogant when comparing a new book to Invincible. I would say that as Watson and Danridge look to improve their craft, there are other great independent books on the market that you could target as you “dare to compare”. My advice to the creators is look at The Uniques from Comfort Love and Adam Withers as an example of how an independent comic should look, feel and read. Your “dare to compare” aimed a little high this time. Read Full Review
