The more I read, the more his style grew on me. His talent at visually depicting the story, portraying the correct emotion of each character contained in a scene, and adding to the mood of the piece is fairly impressive. I'm happy that I kept reading, despite my initial thoughts about the art, as I became quite impressed with Alberto's skill at propelling the story forward. Visually telling a story isn't all about beautiful, exotic character designs, or about impressive splash pages. It's about the overall journey the character(s) are on, and getting the reader to feel that they, vicariously, are sharing the trip. It's about motion, mood, and strong characterization. In a visual medium, you need both the writer and the artist to be working in lockstep, each holding up their end of the deal. After reading through this release, I'm happy to report that Brian and Alberto pull things off rather skillfully. I'm looking forward to future releases, and I'd recommend you take a look, as well.
