Every human believes that they are self-reliant, self-determined individuals, each set on their own course. They've built civilizations, they've built culture, they've built lives... But what if that isn't the right track? What if there is a singular mind ready to take back control and finally right the destiny of mankind and build a better tomorrow? Cognetic is the story of a powerful psychic being that once controlled one-third of the world's population as a part of its hivemind, and his return to humanity in modern-day New York City. It's a psychic action thriller, precariously positioned on the edge of outright apocalypse. It's also the story of a young woman, the assistant to the director of the FBI, who might be the only one who can save humanity, but at a terrible, terrible cost. Each issue in this miniseries is oversized with 48 pages!

James Tynion IV has done a very good job of sucking me into this drama. He appears to have the knack of creating characters that appear grounded in reality even though the situation they find themselves in is unreal. The interaction between Annie and her boss is an excellent portrayal of an individual relationship that I'm sure more than one of you could relate to. Read Full Review

Florida Geek Scene - Bryce Osceola Nov 4, 2015

Cognetic is a mesmerizing thriller that is written at the perfect pace to keep readers entertained and anxious for whatever happens on the next page. It is a wonderful blend of sci-fi action and suspense mixed with biblical/historical drama. The artwork fits perfectly with the story and captures the hive mind mentalityas the people are possessed by a sentient, psychic force. The only flaw is that readers will have to wait until issue 2 to see what happens! Read Full Review

The creative team behind Memetic has brought us another seriously epic series. This series explores our want for control, our idea of a perfect world, and the consequences that come with playing “God.” Everyone believes they will always depend on themselves, but that isn’t the case in Cognetic. This psychic story is definitely one to keep up with. Read Full Review

Cognetic is a great thriller book that presents a great mystery and really runs with it. While the character work isnt too stand-out, the fantastic art and intriguing story more than make up for it. If youre in the mood for an intriguing mystery story that wont have you waiting too long for a conclusion, then look no further. Read Full Review

With an oversized thirty-two pages and five more of extras, Cognetic #1 is an enveloping and extremely unpredictable story that leaves you with a palpable uneasiness, one that has more questions than answers. It's a perfect reading choice for a season defined by spookiness, but will linger in your brain long after you've finished the last page. Read Full Review

The Latest Pull - Marcus Orchard Oct 21, 2015

Cognetic #1 is a powerful first issue and should be welcomed by science fiction fans. James Tynion IV has crafted another strong apocalyptic tale that has the potential to surpass Memetic. Donovan's pencils and layouts help to make the story fee as massive as the issue's page count is. BOOM! Studios has been experimenting with a lot of new ideas right now, and it's paying off with stories like this. Read Full Review

Fans of Memetic will undoubtedly find Cognetic #1 a compelling follow up installment in Tynion's exploration of the apocalypse, but Cognetic is an excellent read for any fans of the sci-fi genre at large. There's no prior knowledge of Tynion's previous work necessary. Cognetic stands alone, giving familiar sci-fi and horror themes a fresh Mission Impossible twist with a fascinating arc and eerie illustrations. Read Full Review

    IGN - Jeff Lake Oct 22, 2015

The latest from Memetic creators James Tynion IV and Eryk Donovan, Cognetic #1 shares more than a few similarities with their prior apocalyptic tale. The unexplained phenomenon, the rampant violence, the talk-through-text aesthetic; at first glance, Cognetic is a few wrong turns away from a rehash. As the story progresses, however, the real intricacy of what Tynion and Donovan have created comes to play. Read Full Review
