Issue #49 surprisingly ends with an image much like the cover, leaving me impatient to see another Batman vs. Bane battle. This one won't be as epic as previous fights I'm sure, but action awaits us all. I can't wait. Read Full Review

    IGN - Mike Logsdon Mar 12, 2015

The first year of Batman Eternal is coming to a close in only one more issue, so issue #49 has a lot to accomplish in order to prepare for the end. There have been quite a few threads woven throughout the fabric of this series, a fact that is no less true of this issue. Fortunately, this issue benefits from the fact that Higgins wisely chooses which threads to pay more attention to. Read Full Review

Comic Vine - Corey 'Undeadpool' Schroeder Mar 11, 2015

With less than a months worth of weekly offerings, this issue feels like the true beginning of the end, and that means that is coming at the perfect moment for this series. Without wearing out its welcome, and by fitting a vast number of ultimately interconnected plotlines, this will be one collection that is worth keeping an eye on. Its becoming increasingly hard to pick out single issues on their own as theyve bled together in a way that, without proper creator correspondence, would have been a garbled mess but as it is makes something more akin to a tapestry. This may only be one piece of that tapestry, but its a solid one. Read Full Review

Batman's entrance at the end of the issue, reflective of the great cover, is one of the most exciting and amped up moments in recent issues. Despite its hits, this issue doesn't have much actually happen. Read Full Review

    AIPT - Jordan Richards Mar 11, 2015

Things still feel like they are moving forward in the comic, but somehow, still very slowly. It feels like we almost wrapped up some storylines here, but some are still going on when there are, like, only three issues left in total. Still no word on the main mastermind or anything. Sure, there were some good character moments I found great and fitting of the characters, but come on. It's time to wrap things up and not drag your feet anymore. Oh well, at least the writing and artwork were fine. Read Full Review

Weekly Comic Book Review - Loukas Mar 18, 2015

The first panels of Batman Eternal showed us Bruce Wayne, beaten and chained to a shattered Bat signal, at the mercy of his enemy as the city burns around him. Scott Snyder has already spoiled any tension with his Endgame arc, not that anyone familiar with comics would ever expect anything but a victory for Batman and his confederates. Still, with the absence of any real mystery, except for the identity of the enemy, Eternalhas now become an intellectual exercise, a kind of game in which we watch the pieces moving across the board to reach the final configuration we know they must assume. Weird Science - Jim Werner Mar 11, 2015

This issue has me torn a bit.  On one hand, it's a fun action packed issue.  On the other hand, it's moving so slow with so little time left.  I don't care what Hush said, it doesn't feel like we're closing in on the finish line at all.  With three issues left, I'm far past the point of losing patience. DC Comics News - Matthew Lloyd Mar 13, 2015

Overall, this was a weaker episode of Batman Eternal. It fits into the bigger picture as a set up for the finale, but on its own it is a bit meandering. It closes out some of the story points from the previous issue, butseems to stall out as it approaches the end of this Bat-Epic. Read Full Review

    Batman-News - Brandon Mulholand Mar 12, 2015

While this issue has it's fair dose of action and suspense, it just ends up feeling disingenuous to me. After devoting this much time to a story line, I want to be wowed, and I am seriously afraid that Eternal just doesn't have any fight left in it. I also can't believe that there are only 3 issues left. This had better end on a proper note, and not as a lead-in to some other story. I…WILL…BE…LIVID… if that is what ends up happening. After 52 issues, we had better get a real ending! Read Full Review

Overall this was an okay issue, I found Julias solution a little too convenient…but then again, we only have three issues remaining so I guess it needed to have a quick resolution. Read Full Review

As we near the end of the terrible Batman Eternal, either the series has settled into a certain level of mediocrity or I have just become numb to its horribleness. Read Full Review
