    Comic Crusaders - Christopher R. Ford Jul 25, 2023

Knight Terrors: Batman #1 is a highly recommended read. The art and the writing mesh in this issue in a truly special way. To portray The Batman's nightmares in a way that is refreshing and stunning is no easy feat. And the reveal of Batman's truest fear is as shocking as they come. There are things at play here that can change the psyche of Batman forever. It will be very interesting to see how this story continues to play out through the Knight Terrors event. Read Full Review

You Don't Read Comics - Russ Bickerstaff Jul 8, 2023

One might have hoped for something with a little more novelty to it. However, it's very difficult to find anything in the mind of Bruce Wayne that would be truly new. He's been so many different things in so many different ways for the better part of the last 100 years. It would be really hard to find anything new in his personality. However, there is a solidly entertaining story that comes in through the script and the visuals that make it worth reading. It may not be a terribly original idea, but it is a solidly-executed version of it.  Read Full Review

Comic Book Revolution - Kevin Lainez Jul 6, 2023

Knight Terrors: Batman #1 does a much better job at getting over the concept of DC Comics latest big event than the First Blood prelude chapter did. While Joshua Williamson can't avoid the core problems with Knight Terrors, creating a self-awareness angle for Bruce Wayne was a smart call. This added immediate importance to Bruce's narrative alongside Deadman for Knight Terrors. Read Full Review

That said, Williamson does an excellent job allowing fans to jump into Knight Terrors: Batman #1 without having to read any of the other Knight Terrors stories. Yet, he doesnt really provide much purpose or direction along the way. So, if youre a Zdarsky Batman fan looking for any type of continuation of HIS story you wont find it. Knight Terrors: Batman #1 is mainly for the fan interested in the event to see whats happening with Batman. Therefore, if youre looking to save some money this summer, take a month off (if not two) and come back when Zdarsky restarts his story again. But I wouldn't recommend this comic and dont know where I stand on the overall event quite yet. Let me know what you think, have a great week, and God Bless! Read Full Review

If it wasn't obvious already, I'm not going to recommend this comic. The main story is uninspired as it rehashes ancient Batman tropes that have been done to death, and some of the ideas that are supposed to be freaky, turn out to be unintentionally funny. The Damian Wayne backup seems like a skippable story as not a whole lot of character development or plot development happens here. There are better comics on stands this week, so I'd say either pick one of those, or keep your hard-earned money in your pocket. Knight Terrors: Batman #1 just isn't worth it. Read Full Review

This event (I realize I’m only two books into it) is really good and interesting so far. This book as you can tel from the title is all about Batman and his nightmare.

In this book you get a little background into Batman wanting to be able to control his fears so that they can not be used against him by an enemy. Then you hit the title page and your in his nightmare. Where his resolve will be tested by Insomnia (the main villain in the event) who is trying to find the nightmare stone, he has found out that it is hidden in the nightmares of a hero he just has no idea which one.

So if the idea of Batman being haunted into submission by his nightmares and fears, or if you wanna know if he can overcome them a more

I was so ready for this to be an overdone instance of Bruce being forced to relive his fears, which this kind of was, but it was executed nicely. I would have given this a 7.5 originally, but the fact that he was put into Joe Chill's shoes and forced to see himself murder his parents was an intriguing idea that I'm really interested to see the effects of in the next issue. As for the backup story with Damian, it didn't really do anything for me. I understand its presence here, but it doesn't increase or decrease my score. Nonetheless, I'm actually looking forward to the next issue.

Written by Joshua Williamson with art by Guillem March, this may have tied the Black Adam issue for my least favorite of the individual stories. The issue picks up right where FIRST BLOOD left off with Batman facing his worst nightmare and in a shock to absolutely no one, it’s reliving the death of his parents for the umpteenth time. It’s really hard to make this story feel unique and Williamson fails to deliver any new elements which makes this issue feel flat. The only new piece of information we get is that Batman seemingly realizes that he’s being trapped by Insomnia and is on a mission to wake himself up to save the day. There’s also a secondary story at the end of the book showing Damian Wayne on a quest to defeat sleep itself more

    A big disappointment.

Not much happens in the 22 pages of main story. We do get a lot of recapping of events most Batman comic fans will already know well; been here done that before. The art is mixed, even looking a bit rough and rushed at times, some panels are blurry. Maybe that's intentional for atmosphere but I found it distracting. And I usually enjoy Guillem March's art. There is one creepy body-horror scene that is pretty effective. And that's all.

The 8-page back up story "Sweet Dreams" features Damian. A very different art style for this one. It's bright and colourful and kind of YA. Again, not a lot happens apart from Damian reading some books, falling asleep then waking up at the end. A dull addition to ex more
