Black Knight's moody dark bloody mythological depressive and humorous status continues to allow it to stand apart from many other comic books upon the shelves. With the swords, flying horses, mystical beings, and deep ties to Camelot the series fills the epic fantasy niche that isn't explored near enough within Marvel. To top it off it's a rich character study not afraid to dive into the mental toll that heroics and life within the Marvel Universe begin to take on individuals. Read Full Review
One of the more exciting comics that Marvel is currently publishing, precisely because it doesn’t feel like a Marvel comic. Spurrier reminds readers why he’s one of the most interesting writers in the industry, not afraid to tackle themes like mental illness. Spurrier and Dávila appear to be having a blast, diving deep into a rich Arthurian mythology with their own unique take on it all. Interesting characters, intriguing plot, stunning art, magic and swords, so much to love and recommend in this series. Read Full Review

Although defeated, Mordred takes comfort in that the knowledge Whitman may get from the Chalice is just as likely to drive him mad opening the door for the remaining items to fall into the villain's possession. Read Full Review
Black Knight: Curse of the Ebony Blade #3 has great art, great action, and makes some forward progress on the story, but the uneven pacing and a page-wasting flashback killed the momentum from a much better first and second issue. Read Full Review
Like the issue before it, Black Knight: Curse of the Ebony Blade #3 has a lot to process in terms of mythology. It's something that makes the book very exposition heavy and while it's a good read, given its juxtaposition with what should be a significant battle, the result is an issue that looses its footing just a bit. I've been liking what I see so far in Curse of the Ebony Blade and this issue highlights a bit of where Dane Whitman is going. He wants to be loved and admired while living up to the legacy he inherited. Unfortunately, nobody actually gets what they want; Elsa (always a pleasure to see) steals the show with a carefree attitude that Dane could use; that scholar girl meanwhile finds out a little more about how misleading myths and folktales can actually be. Going back to the Black Knight legacy, turns out Dane's figure of reference Sir Percy wasn't all that heroic. Between him and Mordred, Mordred is arguably the bigger man because despite his wishes he knows he can't have it. Dane meanwhile has to be shaken out of his delusions by others. Nomore
Still good!
Really good issue!
All right, ya filthy animals. I don't like the mythology and I don't like how exposition-y the dialogue is. But I admit the art is good, the prose is fair, and there's tons of development to go around: plot, character, mythology. I might not love it but it IS a good comic.
Spurrier took a big shit on every single element of the Black Knight's history, such disrespect for the work of the writers before him, if I could rate this under 1, I would.
