Straight-up, I have no complaints here. However, for a company that basks in its own history so much, I do with this would have been called a Yearbook, which is what the 90's Valiant referred to its annuals. Not a knock, as that is just a personal preference. As far as every page of Bloodshot Annual 1 goes, I enjoyed this so much and if this is what their annuals are going to be like, then the fans are going to be very happy. Read Full Review

Word Of The Nerd - Kevin Given Apr 4, 2016

Lemere tells these tales with an absurdist humor that borderlines parody in it's execution, he is clearly having a blast with the characters and it shows. Kano renders the characters appropriately, giving the art a manic style and he knows when to take the characters seriously and when to highlight the absurd, both with the Thespians and the situations they find themselves in. Great from beginning to end. Read Full Review

The final story confused me a little. But that's OK. There's a little something in here for every Bloodshot fan. I didn't expect to be as moved as I was and I sure didn't expect to laugh at the adventures of that adorable little bastard Bloodsquirt, but I damn sure did. Once again Valiant delivers and I highly recommend you grab this over-sized issue and if you haven't begun Lemire's run on Bloodshot Reborn " there's still time before Bloodshot Island strikes this year. So a mixed bag for Valiant. This first three stories add value to the Bloodshot mythos, especially the Squirt and Jacob stories.Fans of Lemire, Fawkes, Bloodshot and even Squirtwill get something from this book, if they are willing to pay $5.99which is a lot to pay out for a book that has no real impact on the main story. With the disaster that is the last story, I am not sure that ittranslates to value for money. Read Full Review

All told the annual offers a different and mostly entertaining look at everyone's favorite albino samurai, even if the quality of the book's extended page count doesn't entirely match its higher price tag. Read Full Review

All in all, the annual is a solid offering, but it is not what one is expecting to receive. It has a great look and showcases lots of talent but some of us want to see what Bloodshot does best; some of us miss the days where Bloodshot was a stone cold killing machine, the type of monster that the Boogeyman looks under his bed for. An annual with some serious and violent missions would have been great to read as well. Prepare for the unexpected when grabbing this title. Read Full Review
