can't have a big #50 as a tie-i to a non-spidey event
While I enjoy the general idea of the story, the writing is AWFUL. The dialog and vibe in the writing makes me want to drop the book even though I usually enjoy Deadpool stories, even the bad ones. The art is ok, but nowhere near good enough to make up for the putrid writing.
After botching the Montreal job and making a new enemy out of DEATH GRIP, Deadpool had the great idea to start his own boutique mercenary agency (definitely his idea! Not at all Agent Gao's!) But a startup is a lot of work, so Wade asks TASKMASTER to run it! Their first assignment? Finding out who this Death Grip is and why he's so interested in Wa...
This is a good issue, with baffling editorial decisions behind it. Wells does his best with what he can do in the space of one issue. One of the best things about Wells' run is how he writes Peter's empathy and that comes out in spades in this issue. JRJR's art isn't terrible but there's a fine line between awkward and dynamic, and Romita keeps falling into awkward in this book.

A BLOOD HUNT TIE-IN!
Vampires are running rampant through New York City and while the Avengers are caught in the middle, someone has to take care of the citizens of the Big Apple. That person? Yep, Spider-Man. But if only it were that simple. Things never are and this issue leads directly into Spider-Man's larger role in BLOOD HUNT!

The alternative is to make 49 something else, avoiding Blood Hunt entirely and saving it all for the miniseries.
Agreed, I feel like previous Chasm story could've been a three-parter from 47 to 49 and then this would've been part of it's own mini-series from Wells.
This was a really good tie-in. For someone who had no interest in Blood Hunt, Wells and JRJR delivered. It's sad that this continues in tie-in issues, but with #50 being next, I get why.

With Wally West M.I.A., Central City needs help dealing with all the bizarre new threats that have arisen, so thankfully, Wallace West, Avery Ho, and Circuit Breaker are here to help. But can they count on Barry Allen, who is having a crisis of his own?
Awful first issue that only sets up the characters through heavy-handed exposition and does nothing to show readers why they should care about this book - Devid Pepose is a hack that will disappear soon and never be heard from again
Greed and corruption flourish in the darkness between stars. With the territories of the Galactic Federation spread far and wide across the vastness of space, pirates and hijackers ransack the distant colonies with cruel disregard for the innocent scientists living within them.
Yet there is a cosmic vigilante who metes out justice througho...
Theres literally only one page of exposition the rest of the issue is devoid of it lol
The city glitters on the horizon. His city. His responsibility to defend and protect. But home has changed. Corrupted by the power of the Orghams' hypnotic suggestions. Mutated into something he does not recognize. This isn't the city Batman remembers. But the city doesn't remember Batman, either. Gotham Nocturne: Act III is upon us and the countdo...

Wonder Woman character was created and introduced in All-Star Comics as a character to raise up and unite American people. Now we have CIA's Tom King using the DC Comics issue almost as a parody level of absurdity of targeted hate based on race, gender, and religion. If the roles were different, the DC Comics published tract would be labeled as a "hate crime" piece. But as it is, CIA Tom King's efmore
WONDER WOMAN VS. THE SOVEREIGN! After being captured by a team of villains, Diana finds herself at the mercy of the scariest of them all. Unbeknownst to our hero, the Sovereign has been pulling her strings since the very beginning of our tale, and now it's time for her to see the world his way as she falls under the influence of the Lasso of Lies! ...
Of course powerful people manipulate the Bible, and religion in general for evil purposes. Look at the Catholic Church back in the day. Even if you look around today there are people using religion to manipulate people. A character like the Sovereign would absolutely use religion to manipulate the masses. The fact that the Sovereign is using the lasso of lies shows that the Sovereign is lying, so Tom King is even showing that this is improper use of the Bible verses. How can you not see this?
Tom King masterfully weaves a subversive and thought-provoking narrative that delves deep into the psyches of Diana and The Sovereign. King’s character work is nothing short of impressive, as he expertly explores the intricacies of Diana’s willpower and The Sovereign’s twisted ideology.
One of the standout aspects of this issue is King’s bold & unflinching examination of religio more

Tom King should never be allowed to write Damian Wayne - after saying he has no hopes and dreams earlier, he now makes him a neglectful jerk who just wants to play video games! I guess Damian as Damian aged, he decided being smart was for the birds!
I'm really enjoying this Wonder Woman run by Tom King. I think he's doing a fantastic job and the art is amazing.
This issue has Diana captured by the Sovereign, who has her ensnared in his Lasso of Lies where he uses quotes from the Bible to keep her submissive to him. She's manipulated into thinking she is a housewife subservient to her husband.
I get that, in this politica more

so, Diana's "husband" isn't acting out of character? Also, the issue is resolved by Diana not believing in the lasso of lies - which just makes it ridiculous, especially since the lasso was made by Amazons. Also, if Diana gets tied up and her wrists touch, she loses all her power, but of course, Tom King has no clue about that!
What a mess!
"ARACHNOBATICS" CONTINUES!
Surprising anyone who knows Peter Parker (but probably not those who know Miles Morales), the Spider-Men have been keeping up their weekly meetup at the Coffee Bean! Sadly, that hasn't given them any insight into the machinations of the Jackal!!! And what do all these mysterious interludes add up to?

Even when Black Widow and Hawkeye had no one to trust, they still had each other - even though their paths sometimes diverged. So when Clint Barton is accused of a rogue assassination attempt that puts the U.S. and Madripoor at odds, a symbiote-equipped Natasha Romanoff thinks nothing of coming to h...
Without Nic Klein's art, it becomes more and more apparent that this book is doing nothing interesting. Ten issues in and there has been hardly anything resembling an overall story worth following. It's so boring and almost all of the story information just pops up and/or gets repeated every issue in the recap paragraph! This issue makes me wonder who thinks Frozen Charlotte is a good enough vimore
THE GHOST DETECTIVE TAKES HULK ON A MIND-BENDING ADVENTURE THROUGH THE PAST! Frozen Charlotte is the newest monster set on delivering Hulk to Eldest (and sowing macabre and murder along the way). But Frozen Charlotte emerged once before, and to stop her, Hulk must first understand her past... So the Ghost Detective takes Hulk on a noir hunt for a s...
Joshua Williamson is slowly becoming one of my favorite actors. I think if he keeps this up, then this run will be the definitive Green Arrow run, even more so than Jeff Lemire and Ben Percy'a run. I love the character building and how the Arrow family is getting back together.
ROY HARPER IS MISSING. Green Arrow and Connor Hawke investigate what happened to him and what Amanda Waller has done to the rest of the Arrow family...which makes it difficult when they are attacked by surprise agents of Waller! Red Arrow, Red Canary, Arrowette, and Speedy!
love that you think that Jeff Lemire or Ben Percy has the definitive run of Green Arrow! LOL
I dont understand who Williams and DC editors are writing to. The first arc had some high points and went darker at moments. Then it got goofy, now it is just a book for kids. I contemplated reading this to my kid instead of reading it for myself. The art is not appropriate for a standard super-hero, let a lone power girl book. This is drawn like it is for kids.
Now is it good art for more

it's crazy that this tried to be an all-ages book when it started out about recreational drug use!

I wasn't incredibly looking forward to this after I felt very "meh" about Bronfman's one-shot for Jackpot. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't good either. While I would say this is an improvement on that book, this still isn't particularly great. I think this has a solid premise with the Obscura app and everything, but I just wish the writing and/or the execution of it all was more interesting; or just more

Tom King writes the only female character he knows and while people applaud him for "strong female characters", let's be honest here, Tom King thinks that means "b***h" Evely's art is great, but everything here is a slog and it becomes very evident when he writes original characters how heavy-handed his writing is as he tries to force his one-dimensional ideas down the reader's throat.
