Rise of the Powers of X (2024) #1

Jan 10, 2024

Rise Of The Powers Of X #1 does a great job of setting up this bold new title, it brings fresh ideas and feels appropriately epic for this climactic chapter of the Krakoan age, I cant wait to read more.

I'm blown away by this issue. Its Gillen and co at their very best, truly delivering an exciting installment in this ongoing narrative that will send shockwaves throughout the line. Personally, I cant wait to see where these creatives take the story next!

Wolverine (2020) #41

Jan 10, 2024

The first chapter in Sabertooth War is a very promising start. Its appropriately violent while also having some surprisingly tender moments before all hell breaks loose. The title is an easy recommendation.

Avengers (2023) #1

May 19, 2023

Its a fantastic first issue that establishes a good team and sets out a mission statement for what the Avengers mean as a whole and as individuals. This run is partly spinning out of the events of Timeless (2022) #1, how that one shot will affect this story isn't entirely clear yet but part of me does worry itll become necessary reading to understand the following issues. With that being said Its still a great first issue which I can highly recommend.

Spirit World (2023) #1

May 10, 2023

Spirit World #1 is an exciting first issue with amazing art and a somewhat rocky narrative. Luckily the issue ends on an interesting hook which Im excited to see play out as this series unfolds.

Uncanny Avengers (2023) #1

Aug 16, 2023

Uncanny Avengers #1 is a great first issue to the limited series. It has action, mystery, and oh so many dead fascists, what more could you want?

Force #39

Apr 19, 2023

X-Force #39 is a great first chapter to a new age. It gives closure to Beasts plot (for now!) while establishing the foundations for a bright new future. Overall, Im excited to see where Percy and Gill take the book next!

Immortal X-Men (2022) #12

Jun 7, 2023

Immortal X-Men #12 is a reminder of what a strong series this is. It has startling implications for Krakoa that surely will lead into the Fall Of X come August. Gillen and co craft a fascinating look into the character of Colossus while telling a story of political intrigue and power grabs.

X-Men (2021) #22

May 17, 2023

X-Men #22 is an interesting issue in the lead-up to the Fall Of X. It sets up plot threads while also delivering a satisfying single-issue story within that larger picture. With great art, its certainly an issue youll want to pick up if you have any interest in the ongoing X-Men narrative.

Invincible Iron Man (2022) #5

Apr 26, 2023

Invincible Iron Man continues to walk a fine line of working as a standalone book while also being part of a larger story Duggan is telling across his books. The issue does a good job filling in readers on the relevant events from X-Men and it never feels like you need to have read the book, but it certainly improves both if you have.

X-Men: Before The Fall (2023): Mutants' First Strike #1

Jun 7, 2023

X-Men: Before the Fall Mutant First Strike #1 isnt an essential issue. That being said, it's still a solid one. The issue doesnt reveal much but it does give the Mutants one big heroic hurrah before the Fall Of X.

Fall of the House of X (2024) #1

Jan 9, 2024

Fall Of The House Of X #1 is a disappointing start made all the more unfortunate by the quality of what preceded it, not only its namesake but Duggan's other work from the Fall Of X which has largely been stellar. Hopefully the following issues can pick up the momentum the first issue so desperately lacked.
