2000AD #2028

Apr 26, 2017

The current run of 2000 AD stories is a rewarding read each week but now we're mid-way through some of them, it feels as though there is a storm coming ("Viene la tormenta!" to make another Terminator 2 reference). How each title is going to conclude is impossible to say and this keeps the reader guessing and craving more. It's exciting to think of what other titles 2000 AD have in store for us this year, yet some of these current story arcs seem to be as good as they could possibly get.

2000AD #2029

May 6, 2017

Overall, Prog 2029 continues a number of great story arcs, but stops one of them somewhat abruptly. With events unfolding and feeding the reader plenty of potential in most titles, it is a little disappointing that one of the titles still hasn't quite found its legs, despite giving us some interesting and unexplained events.

2000AD #2032

May 24, 2017

This week saw the conclusion of Judge Dredd:Sons of Booth which although ended in a suitably ironic manner, did not necessarily live up to the initial political commentary that was originally hinted at. Prog 2032 continues some epic story arcs in Brink,Scarlet Traces, and Cursed: The Fall of Deadworld whichhave been a treat to read. The fact these are still running is a huge positive and things have been unfolding, twisting and shocking plenty in recent weeks. With Defoe hitting part 7 this week and delivering some great character development, things are heating up nicely all-round as we head deeper into these current stories.

2000AD #2037

Jun 27, 2017

2000 AD Prog 2037 is fantastic and presents plenty of sci-fi/fantasy/horror while discussing real-world themes and politics in the background. For those who like a dose of thoughtfulness with their escapism, 2000 AD really is the comic you need in your life. This Prog ties everything together into one amazing issue.

2000AD #2039

Jul 14, 2017

Prog 2039 is simply great...for those who have been following the current stories you'll be wanting to read it, but for those who are merely curious about 2000 AD, Grey Area aloneis worth your change as is the standalone Judge Dredd story 'Box-Office Bomb'.

The balance of stories and titles is what makes 2000 AD so unique from other titles (not to mention the fact it is weekly!). Each Prog is packed full of variation and this keeps it fresh and interesting. With that, we bid Hunted a farewell but we welcome back Hope next issue. Freeway Fighter #1

May 10, 2017

Freeway Fighter #1 introduces familiar settings and themes, but with a fresh character and new story. As introductions go, this is a nigh on perfect attention grabber from the outset. However, with themes and concepts not exactly being ‘original' it remains to be seen whether Freeway Fighter can carve its own niche and set itself apart from the obvious similarity with Mad Max.If any of in the themes above are of interest, this us a must read upas soon as possible.

FCBD 2017: 2000 AD #1

May 7, 2017

The very last page of this Prog is full of references from the world of 2000 AD and is suitably fun. On a more serious note, the back cover is a dedication to the late Steve Dillon and is a tasteful and stylish tribute.

The Last American #1

Apr 5, 2017

The Last American is ambitious to take on such a huge subject and scale it back from the run-of-the-mill action comic to present a poignant and introspective story. It is at once gripping to read, harrowing to see, and yet in places is funny to the point of laughing out loud. The artwork is wacky at times, but delivers a very sobering look at a post-nuclear Armageddon.

Slaine: The Brutania Chronicles: Psychopomp #3

May 1, 2017

Overall, Psychopomp is deeper than you would first expect and Pat Mills is throwing new and emotionally charged challenges at his Celtic berserker. This character-driven adversity makes Sline a surprisingly refreshing read for 2017; far removed from 30 or so years ago where in his first appearance he is seen hustling and cheating a group of onlookers out of their money as they bet that Sline couldn't kill a time-monster. Sline has matured, he's thoroughly enjoyable to read and this latest part to The Brutania Chronicles is a rewarding experience.
