Brilliant Trash #1
Oct 26, 2017 |
Overall, this is a strong start to the series, and whilst a little hectic on occasion, provides a fun, intriguing story, and a host of interesting hooks for the remaining issues. For a superhero miniseries that has a decidedly different flavour to the norm, check out the first two issues of Brilliant Trash, available from AfterShock Comics. |

Brilliant Trash #3
Jan 17, 2018 |
Brilliant Trash #3 is a worthy action-packed continuation of the story, which gives the main characters a chance to build up their relationships, whilst adding background to the world they live in. It is, unfortunately, a little heavy on the exposition, and is missing some of the more inventive touches from the previous issues, but still sets up future events nicely. Brilliant Trash #3 is available from today from AfterShock Comics. |

Lady Mechanika: Clockwork Assassin #1
Jul 5, 2017 |
So far, Clockwork Assassin #1 is interesting, certainly enough to warrant reading the next issue, but does suffer slightly from cramming too much into a small space. Perhaps not the best choice for casual readers (although I can definitely recommend earlier stories in this universe) but fans should be intrigued, and hopefully the rest of the story is a little more streamlined. |

Outpost Zero #1
Jul 11, 2018 |
Outpost Zero #1 is a character-driven story, that introduces a large cast, and hints of larger, more ominous things to come. It does end on an almost hasty note, and does not answer some burning questions, but hopefully these loose threads will be tied up in the future. Outpost Zero #1 is available today. |

Paradiso #1
Nov 24, 2017 |
Paradiso #1 is an excellent start to a new universe, bringing us plenty of intrigue and set-up for further parts of the story, whilst building a coherent world for the characters. The subtler approach to exposition might deter some readers, but for me only adds to my interest in reading the next issue. For fans of post-apocalyptic adventures, sci-fi (with a smattering of killer robots) Paradiso #1 is highly recommended. It is available in stores on December 6th. |

Paradiso #2
Jan 9, 2018 |
An interesting and action-packed continuation, Paradiso #2 raises new questions about the city, Jacks mission, and neatly starts to flesh out the villains. Although those wanting concrete answers to burning plot questions may be left a little disappointed, the subtler approach to storytelling employed here is by far a preferred narrative choice for me, and as such, I am definitely looking forward to the next issue. Paradiso #2 is out tomorrow from Image Comics. |

Paradiso #3
Feb 15, 2018 |
Paradiso #3 keeps up the pace and complexity of the previous issues, whilst including some elements of recap. Thematically dense, it is arguably not the ideal starting point for someone who wishes to read the occasional casual issue, but really, you should be reading this excellent series from start to finish anyway. The creative team is on point as always, generating a beautifully put-together world, populated with distinct, detailed characters. The complexity may put off some readers, and there is a lot to process in this issue, but personally, it makes me eagerly await Paradiso #4. |

Ruin of Thieves #2
Jul 6, 2018 |
Ruin of Thieves #2 provides a satisfying continuation to the story, whilst giving us intriguing character development, all supported by extremely detailed art. Although Waheda has perhaps not the most original backstory, her skill, determination and morals make her an interesting focus. The consequences of this issue, however, will definitely be felt by all the characters in the future. |

Shadow Roads #1
Aug 16, 2018 |
A fast and spirited (pun intended) introduction to this universe, Shadow Roads #1 gives us a cast of interesting characters and a nice smattering of supernatural lore. Although the speed of the story only gives us a little bit of time with some of the cast, further issues will undoubtably expand on this. |

Shadow Roads #2
Aug 29, 2018 |
Shadow Roads #2 is slightly slower than the previous issue, giving us a chance to get to know some of the characters and their backstories. Although the large cast means that a few are missed out, and there is a fair bit of exposition, we do learn more about the supernatural lore at play, and further story threads are set up. Issue #3 should be very interesting! |
