Adventures of the Super Sons #2
Sep 5, 2018 |
Coming off a great first issue, Super Sons this week hits its sophomore slump. I'm still excited to see what Tomasi does with these characters, both new and old. The story itself feels similar to roads we have been down before. But as long as it's fun then it shouldn't really matter. If you're a series "completionist" then yes, definitely get this book. If not you probably won't be lost next issue. |

Burnouts #1
Sep 18, 2018 |
Burnouts #1 was worth the wait. A stoner, sci-fi comedy that anyone can pick up. Culver and Geoffo's introduction to the series and characters leave me excited for more. To see the how the relationships change adding a nerd to the group, and what is the overall plans that the aliens have? It'll be fun to see them save the world as they put it "one puff at a time". |

DC / Looney Tunes: The Joker/Daffy Duck #1
Aug 30, 2018 |
Lobdell and the team were able to craft an enjoyable story with limited stakes for the reader. Knowing the characters beforehand is beneficial for the enjoyment of the story. If you have never, at all, heard of either of these characters then I would stay away from this book. I'm not sure if this would have the legs to run a series, but a one-shot every so often would have me collecting each issue. |

Dead Rabbit #1

I've been a fan of Gerry Duggan since his work on Deadpool. And Dead Rabbit #1 has kept me a fan. It sets up a grounded and fun series. From realistic action to low-brow humor, this is a series that if you love a single Jason Statham movie, you'll love reading this. |

Justice League Dark (2018) #2

Justice League Dark continues to be a fun romp with a cast of loveable characters. It has been fun to see the ideas Tynion has for each of the characters and what their individual traits bring to the team. |

Justice League Dark (2018) #3
Sep 27, 2018 |
Justice League Dark #3 is a good book. Despite this issue not making full use of its cast of characters is does a fantastic job of setting up what's to come. Which I can only hope is more adventures while putting the team in the forefront. |

Low Road West #1
Sep 12, 2018 |
Low Road West #1 is a refreshing entry into the world of comic books. Not really sure which genre to classify it as; a character made the best attempt when saying "Was the last owner a mad scientist or a Gandalf?" And that right there sums up the duality of the book. Spread over 5 issues as it combines the elements of the mad scientist and Gandalf, I'm excited about where Johnson's road takes us. |

Pearl #1
Aug 20, 2018 |
Starting off, Pearl #1 leaves the reader with more questions than answers, as any number one usually does. Characters are fun and relatable and the conversation between Pearl and her friend Kim was a definite highlight for me. As we find out more of what the Yakuza has in store for Pearl, the ride that Bendis takes you on makes this a book well worth a spot on the pull list. |

Red Hood and the Outlaws (2016) #26

Red Hood and the Outlaws #26 kicks off what is sure to be a fun run. The combination of Lobdell's writing and Wood's artworks for this new era that the character is going through. With still questions surrounding the mysterious Underlife organization it will be exciting to the answers we will be given. |

Shatterstar #1

Shatterstar #1 is amazing. It might be because I went in with low expectations and was blown away, but I don't think that is it. Seeley and the team have put together a stellar cast and a story that anyone can get on board for. It serves as a perfect starting point if you did not know much about the character, like me. |

Venom: First Host #2
Sep 7, 2018 |
Venom First Host is an intriguing look into the emotional sides of Venom. Moving forward, the story has many places to go and I'm eager to see where it lands. This exploration into how the symbiote feels about its various hosts is adding more depth to the parasite we've known for years. Overall, this series is deserving of a spot on your pull list. |

Venom: First Host #5
Oct 1, 2018 |
Venom First Host #5 is a fitting end to the series. Personally, I would have enjoyed a fully functional Tel-Kar running around the universe. But if the last five issues have shown anything it is that Costa knows these characters and knows where they should end up. It is sad to say goodbye to a series but at least it was a fun read. |
