House of M: Avengers #4 |
Jan 31, 2008 |
The problem with House of M: Avengers is that it didnt need to be made. Slap House of M and Avengers on the title and suckers will buy. Suckers like me. So at the end of the 5 weeks, Ive shelled out $15 for a story that barely fit the continuity of an alternate reality story that happened several years ago. There was no room for character development because, for whatever reason, the book had to have every single person not mentioned in the House of M brought in for a guest appearance, including Thunderbirds lame attack squad of the Blob, Avalanche, Feral, and Boom Boom. I know that Thunderbird is cool now because of Brubakers Uncanny X-Men, and people like Luke Cage because of Bendis New Avengers, but it didnt make this book any better. If you dont mind breaking your full run, dont buy. Save yourself! |

Amazing Spider-Man (1999) #550 |
Feb 15, 2008 |
If youve got friends that havent read Spider-Man in a year or so, I think theyd enjoy the book. Those that are like me that have been around for a while, are hoping and praying that there is a reason behind the blatant disregard for continuity that robbed us of such exciting moments like Peter Parkers big reveal in Civil War and the death of Harry Osborne. If there was no reason, then maybe someone at Marvel should make a deal with Mephisto to make us all forget "Brand New Day" ever happened. |

Shy Creatures #1 |
Feb 4, 2008 |
I have three children, ages 7,4, and 2. I read this book to them as a bed-time story and they loved it. They asked for it again the next day. Out of context from the Kabuki story, the book maintains its cleverness. The book has already been nominated for a Cybil Award, which is public driven online award for childrens literature. I dont have a doubt in my mind that it will be nominated for more awards in the near future. According to Davidmackguide.com, Mack is already working on a new childrens book. If youre a fan of Kabuki, or you have small children that you love reading to, buy this book. Its a great story in overcoming shyness that applies to all ages. |
