American Vampire: 1976 #1

Oct 7, 2020

American Vampire 1976 #1 is a great Halloween comic with its serial killers, secret conspiracy organizations, and of course, vampires. If the train robbery or the serial killer angle to the story doesn't make you want to read more, then the art definitely will. My one issue is that it's not very friendly to new readers of Snyder'sAmerican Vampire. There were a few times characters and organizations were introduced and I was confused as to who they were and why they were important. However, the team did a great job of making me want to go back and catch up on the series.

Folklords #1

Nov 13, 2019

Folklords #1is the opposite of what you would expect to happen in most fantasy tales. Usually, in stories like the Chronicles of Narnia, Wizard of Oz, and Harry Potter, people leave our world for the world of magic. Characters seek an escape or a solution to a problem that endangers their everyday lives. In this story, the characters seek answers in our world.

Headless #1

Jun 5, 2020

Overall, it's incredibly compelling, and readers won't be able to put it down. Fans of “The Legend of Sleepy Hollow” and those fascinated with historic events in America like the Salem Witch Trials are sure to enjoy Headless. It's a tale about two brothers trying to survive a centuries-old war between the Headless Horseman and the Knights Templar in the town of Salem. What more could you want?

All in all,Killers #1is the start of an intriguing mystery surrounding the mystical nature of MI-6's ninjas. This is a great introduction to Valiant's world of spies and ninjas for new readers. If you like spy flicks like James Bond, Bourne, or Mission Impossible with a smidge of the fantastic, you'll loveKillers.

No Heroine #1

May 22, 2020

No Heroine #1 is a classic monster slaying comic with a punk flair. Also, it's a wonder that drug dealing vampires haven't made more appearances in pop culture since their acolytesdo display addictive tendencies. And, of course, no vampire book would be complete without some light fun being made at the expense of the Twilight series.

Quantum and Woody (2020) #1

Jan 8, 2020

Quantum and Woody #1 is a story about family. And sometimes families do crazy things to achieve their desires. Mad science and crazy schemes are just two examples. This issue is a great introduction for new readers with a healthy dose of absurdism.

Roku (2019) #1

Oct 30, 2019

Roku #1 is a mystery about Roku's past as much as it is about her present. Who are her employers, and what is this weapon they want? This is a great jumping-on point for new readers, especially for those new to the Valiant Universe. It doesn't fully address her whole story, particularly her past and origin story which was somewhat explored in Ninjak, but it doesn't really matter either. It just fills in a few gaps in her story, which apparently there are plenty of.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (2011) #106

Jul 15, 2020

It's been a while since I've read a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles comic. Are they still even teenagers at this point? Regardless, it seems like the Turtles are in a new status quo, helping their community adapt and survive. Unless you're up to date with the Turtles, I'm afraid you won't enjoy Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles #106 very much. Is Baxter Stockman the mayor?

The Visitor (2019) #1

Dec 20, 2019

Like the rest of Valiant's titles, Visitor #1 has no connection to its '90s counterpart and readers do not need to have read any other Valiant titles to enjoy this. If you are looking for an action-filled story about a mysterious conspiracy, you'll definitely want to check this out.

We Only Find Them When They're Dead #1

Sep 2, 2020

We Only Find Them When They're Dead #1 is about a crew that decides to boldly go where no one has gone before out of economic desperation. It's like a Star Trek adventure with a cyberpunk dystopian flair. At the very least, go pick this up for the art alone.

Mar 25, 2020

X-O Manowar #1is about a character who could be a great superhero but just isn't there yet. And there's a new villain in the background biding their time. It's a great jumping-on point for new readers looking for some classic superhero action; no previous X-O Manowar experience necessary.
