4001 A.D. #2
Jun 6, 2016 |
Heart is what this series will need to maintain my personal interest because I often have trouble with expansive worlds. I don't always like to work when I read comics, but I appreciate what Crain and Kindt have accomplished here. So, for the foreseeable future, I will put it in the work to witness the exciting journey of Rai in 4001 AD. |

The Twilight Zone: 1959 (One-Shot) #1
Feb 17, 2016 |
Regardless of the somewhat middling result of the effort, I think The Twilight Zone1959 is worth a read if you're a fan of the original television show and you're looking for something a little different with a twisted ending. I also hope this isn't just a one-shot after all, because I think there is a ton of potential here for the future. |

A&A: The Adventures of Archer and Armstrong #1
Mar 19, 2016 |
If this is what readers can expect from this creative team in the future, then more people will stop knowing simply the names of Archer & Armstrong. They'll be able to recite their impressive background from the 90s to today, the same way they spout off every fact about Batman and Robin. |

I will undoubtedly be picking up the next issue of this comic because Benjamin Percy and Otto Schmidt are too good a team to pass up just like Green Arrow and Black Canary. |

Shaft: Imitation of Life #1
Feb 8, 2016 |
This was a great first issue for a comic, and I'm sure it'll gain a strong fan base over time through word-of-mouth. Shaft is back and he's packing heat, both on the pages and in his belt. |

Interceptor #5
Jun 12, 2016 |
Readers, Donny Cates is one of the best comic writers working today, and you've got to take notice because if you don't he'll be eaten up by poor sales as quickly as the pallid men surrounding that vampiress in the issue I foolishly skipped. Interceptor #5, I was told is the last issue for this incredible series that should have lived on for years"similar to the comic's main antagonist, the Vampire King. |

Twilight Zone / The Shadow #1
Apr 23, 2016 |
The tale is one that explores the complexity of identity and reality. It's a genius play to have The Shadow act within the bounds of The Twilight Zone, considering The Shadow is just as much a mystery as is a classic episode of the 1950s-60s show. I'm intrigued by the story, the action, and the characters but what will keep this series engaging to a modern audience is the twist pulled into the fray with the inclusion of The Twilight Zone. If the next few issues are as good as this one then I can confidently say that writer David Avallone and artist Dave Acosta have an old-fashioned winner on their hands. |

This is one of the best first issues I've ever read, and I honestly can't wait to see where this story goes. I'm not usually a huge horror fan or dark science-fiction lover, but Stiles got me with this issue hook, line, and sinker. I encourage you to seek out this first issue and follow as this writer and his artist continue to grow. |

Over The Garden Wall #1
Apr 27, 2016 |
The second story in the issue is about the Woodsman's daughter, Anna. Reading through it, I assume this story is set either during or prior to Greg and Wirt's original adventures in theOver the Garden Wallseries. This story is far more inventive in its use of language and vocabulary. It's perfect for a young reader who is attempting to gain a stronger hold of the English language. I'll be interested to see how this series unfolds in the next few months because I think the use of both the cartoony Greg and the more introspective Anna is effective in embracing readers who appreciate an intelligent comic that is still comical and whimsical. |
