Aquaman (2011) #27

Feb 1, 2014

Even after an almost total turnover on the creative team (Rod Reis is still coloring the King of Atlantis), Aquaman remains one of DCs strongest titles. Jeff Parker has a good handle on Aquaman and Mera and handles them wisely. Hopefully the art will right its course by next issue.

G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero (2010) #198

Jan 15, 2014

GI Joe: A Real American Hero 198 is a strong book in itself and it makes the upcoming issue 200 extra promising. Longtime fans are rewarded with appearances of several characters and settings that were first introduced by Larry Hama in the '80s, and new readers can enjoy an exciting story complete with standard military as well as ninja action (yes, that silent man in black does show up briefly). Calibrate your sights and enjoy! Overall Score: 8.5 out of 10

George Romero's Empire of the Dead: Act One #2

Mar 2, 2014

Romero and his art team deliver a rich horror tale that moves at a quick pace while presenting many distinct characters and agendas. Like the films this story builds on, this comic is not for kids (as disclaimed on the cover), but it is for anyone who enjoys thrills with substance. Overall Score: 8.5 out of 10.

Minimum Wage #2

Feb 7, 2014

If youre sick of superheroes and out-of-this-world scenarios common to comics, or if you would like to add something more down to earth to your pull list, make sure to check this title out. Just take note that it deals openly with mature subject matter and is not for kids.

Origin II #2

Jan 26, 2014

With any luck, this issue was just a slight misstep and will return to form in Book 3. Its nice to see simple Wolverine stories set in the past, before he became perhaps the most overexposed character in all of comics.

Red Team #7

Mar 13, 2014

Red Team is a decent entry in a genre that doesn't appear a whole lot in comic books. If you enjoy cop dramas or stories in general that deal with moral dilemmas and the risks breaking all the rules in an attempt to put things right, skip Law & Order and pick up the Red Team trade on April 8.

Supergirl (2011) #27

Jan 25, 2014

If you like Supergirl, or if you're a fan of Superman but aren't enjoying his current titles, this book is worth checking out. It's still very easy to get caught up via trade, as the stories fun, quick reads. Overall Score: 7 out of 10.
