Back to Brooklyn #1

Sep 29, 2008

On an unrelated note, the preview for Four Eyes in the back of this issue, by Joe Kelly and Max Fiumara, looks very intriguing. Ill check that out soon.

Chew #1

Jun 5, 2009

Guillory completes this fine script with clunky, semi-exaggerated artwork that fits the mood of the issue almost perfectly. The climactic scene of the issue featuring a showdown between Chu and the serial killer sous chef is a collection of panels you have to see to believe, showcasing blood, knives and teeth. Is this a zombie book? The collection of action, close-ups and color alterations that make up this comic book are visually remarkable, completing an issue that is definitely a must read for comic fans looking for a different kind of fix. Oh, and I wouldnt eat anything while youre reading Chew. You might just find out youre a closet cibopath, and you dont wanna know where that Twinkie came from.

Fables #70

Mar 7, 2008

The ending of issue #70 is so light-hearted that you may temporarily forget that these same characters are heading into a war from which some of them may not return. However, I'm sure that, beginning with next issue, we are going to see a desperate yet confident Fabletown army start the gears of conflict against the Adversary and his forces. As a fan from the very beginning, I know that the buildup to the jumbo-sized 75th issue will yield some great reads that will further cement Willingham's epic as one of the great comic series' of the last ten years.

Gigantic #1

Nov 3, 2008

In short, this is an issue you should definitely pick up this Wednesday. Remenders story and Nguyens outstanding artwork (in combination with fitting colors by Matthew Wilson) produce a thrill ride that is worth the price of admission. If you live in San Francisco, this is your wake up call.

Hellblazer #237

Oct 30, 2007

It looks like Diggle will be Hellblazers writer for at least the next six months, so I hope he puts a little more thought into Constantine and develops his character past the static doppelganger we have seen lately. This is the same guy who wrote The Losers, so I know hes got it in him!

Mirror's Edge #1

Oct 31, 2008

I think thats enough bashing for today, and I think this negative view is justified. Wildstorm shouldnt produce a $4 comic book that insults a readers intelligence as badly as Mirrors Edge.
