Before his final battle, Flycatcher invited all of the Animal Fables currently trapped on The Farm to move back to their lost Homelands. Boy Blue, determined to fulfill Fly's last command, brings the news to the Farm--which starts a debate among the Farm Fables.
It will be interesting to see where Willingham takes the story from here. If Fables is anything, it's unpredictable, and as two years worth of issues have been building towards the upcoming war, I can't imagine the creative team will let their fans down as the many different plot elements converge and finally come to fruition. The ending of issue #70 is so light-hearted that you may temporarily forget that these same characters are heading into a war from which some of them may not return. However, I'm sure that, beginning with next issue, we are going to see a desperate yet confident Fabletown army start the gears of conflict against the Adversary and his forces. As a fan from the very beginning, I know that the buildup to the jumbo-sized 75th issue will yield some great reads that will further cement Willingham's epic as one of the great comic series' of the last ten years.
